You never hear about trapped potholers any more, do you? Fucking mobile phones.

It really was all the rage at one time, perhaps Potholers wanted the prestige of getting stuck down one, then boooom, mobiles become popular and they lose all interest.

Except AVB had a much better points record in the league and in Europe despite the squad being brand new.

Its a pity because he was doing alright until the red.

But I said I would opt for Dier at CB out of the two...so....

Which is a problem in itself if the inexperienced Dier is looking like a better option than an experienced guy that has just won the europa league

I've got a very strong feeling that Dier and Faz could be our golden CB pairing going forward.

Verts, overall, is just too powder puff. Has to be said.

Said it.

Doesn't seem to matter who plays there, our defence is the same every game.
Agree, why oh why can we not defend. Unfortunately the basics of defending have mainly eluded us for the past 5 decades I've been following us. I know it's not deliberate but sometimes it looks as though we go out of our way to give the opposition as many chances as we can, with atrocious defending, we seem to find new ways of creating panic in our own half and box, whoever is in our back four. I know we have had some excellent individual defenders but I'm beginning to wonder whether defending as a unit is deliberately coached out of our players on the training ground just to put our fans through it for the hell of it.

Perhaps we should change our motto from "To dare is to do" to "To dare not to defend properly is to do" .......

Dembélé, Dempsey, Lloris and Sigurdsson hardly constituted a squad, and Ade wasn't 'brand new'.

I think you know that I was referring to the magnificent 7, who changed the face of our play and impacted our then existing squad members.

Dire + Faz + high line = opposition goal fest and/or Lloris Red Card

Problem is the 2 deeper midfielders, they are pushing too high up when our fullbacks are also forward, exposing our back 4.

In future I would just leave out the italian, spanish or portuguese market. THere are the odd hitters, but overall it just dont seem to be the football needed in England. Rather look out what is there and maybe go more to the Dutch/ German market.

I sometimes think our team could be a decent outfit in Spain or Italy, but not really in the Prem.

There's that and also our lwf and rwf are not functioning properly. The space behind them is exposed way too much, they need to work harder and be more alert to the counter.

We are a long way away from being a functional team tbf. We'll look something like one come the nearing the end of the season though.

We're shit, that is all
I was thinking we have overpaid for some pretty average players. in paulinio and soldao we had two subs we paid nearly£45m for that cant in the uefa cup first team I have really felt for soldado but it works both ways and seems laclustre. Paulino struggles in most games which is why he cant get into the second team. Add lamela to the list and we have three players who are not good enough to play in premier league every week to a high level. what ever way you look at it we both come to the same conclusion
