I don't think they do in some cases, we haven't had good enough tacticians. Also I think we have had managers unwilling to rock the boat and kick serious arse, for some reason they have tried the softly softly approach. But saying that you get Sherwood doing the opposite and he gets stick as well. You also have to factor in what the board let the manager do and what he gets to implement.
I do think a lot of it is though that for all these managers who say they do long days at the training ground etc, too many of them don't have a great understanding and grasp of the game/analysis of it. They just get by doing what they know, stick to the same plans etc.
Does this come from, not backing our managers with time, support, the fact we change our first 11 dramatically every season? Expectations are to high and we don't have enough exp or leadership on the pitch ?
Also we seem to lack players who like going wide if Townsend hugged a touch line (either I am not fussed) all game we might have some space. I agree tactically we seem inept.
