It's a shame that this thread dies whenever Lamela plays well.

Trouble is, he doesn't often play well enough to warrant serious praise.

He often does 'fine', or 'decent', but who wants to trot off to a player specific thread to make comment on an ok performance?

If Lamela plays really well, or does something special (which he has done about three times total this season) then believe me, you'll get people giving him his dues.

There is nobody (maybe one or two exceptions) who doesn't want Lamela to become a genuinely key player for us on the level of Kane, Eriksen or even Chadli. He hasn't done anything to suggest that is forthcoming though.

I prefer him to Townsend on the right, but from a personal opinion i would like a better right footed option than both Erik/Andros.

I can count more than "one or two exceptions" on the last page of this thread alone.

Stats or no stats, any serious offer in the summer and he'll be on his way.
There will be no offers anywhere remotely close to what we spent we are stuck with him, we just need to get behind him and hope he grows into the player we all hoped we had bought.

If you asked them, I'm sure pretty much all of them would love it if he came good.

Some people are unfair to him (on the basis of his price tag: not his fault of course, but it's still a burden he has to bear) but that doesn't mean they want him to fail.

Can you please STOP insulting or making bitchy remarks about people who do not agree with you?
Why are you so hurt all the time by what I say :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:?

I suggest we ignore each other again, before Archie comes knocking on the door for the second time.

I'm under no illusions that Lamela has warranted his price tag to this point in his career. We've all seen flashes of what he can bring to the table, and often those flashes make you realize what we had in mind when we paid the large sum to Roma to obtain him.

The problem with Lamela so far is obviously consistently. It's what we were hoping we would be getting in return in the near future after we trumped up the cash for him, but to this point the consistency has been fleeting. Last season was a derailed year, I don't think you can really refute that. But, this season was what I really wanted to gauge his long-term ability on and while some of it has been good and promising, obviously the remaining portion has been mediocre or in some cases poor.

Furthermore, at least the guy tries. We've got a few asshats who get on the pitch and simply look uninterested or like they really couldn't give two shits about winning what some might consider a trivial challenge. Lamela is always looking to impact a match even if it's through making tackles/interceptions. I give him credit for really trying to thrust himself into matches as opposed to simply hiding from the ball or the spotlight/ridicule of the fans.

I remain hopeful for the fella. I'm not going to go ahead and give up on him (as many others have) simply because if he can put things together he quite honestly could be the biggest talent on our squad. I think it is pretty disgraceful how some people around these parts have almost taken the whole Lamela debate as an almost personal mission to ensure we all hear the same shit over and over again. I'm not sure what that accomplishes, but it's a forum for opinions. I'm not expecting this post to change those opinions, but I do think it's some petty shit.

Lamela offers a lot of work rate tackles assists, I believe the majority would say he needs to do more in terms of goals being more of an attacking.

Of course if you asked them directly they would hurriedly declare how they would love for him to come good. However, their words and actions prove the opposite of that.

The support that Soldado has received during the majority of his tenure here should be the minimum requirement for us fans. The crowds willingness for him to do well was a breath of fresh air compared to the hammerings that Paulinho et al have received.

Anyone who claims Lamela contributes nothing to our attack is either visually impaired, a liar or dont understand football.
i told my mates some Spurs fans think townsend shoukd start ahead of Lamela, and they split their sides laughing. Townsend has improved under our current coach but he simply is not good enough to start in our new system of play.

So you really believe that should Lamela play today and score a goal and have a good game some spurs fans will be pissed off?
Grow up.

How do you explain certain fans saying Lamela contributed nothing in attack against Liverpool?

Slightly perplexed by the accusation of a lack of maturity?

Unlike you I haven't attacked nor insulted anyone for their opinion.

I am sure that the Chelsea fans in Paris celebrated Drogba's winning penalty in the CL final, but it doesn't stop them from being racist.

I am sure that posters like walton will celebrate if Lamela scores, but I suggest that that would have far more to do with Tottenham scoring, and will not effect their apparent agenda against Erik Lamela.
