Judicial proceedings to challenge the Compulsory Purchase Order of our premises.

Whilst we were disappointed and surprised by the judgment of Sir Ian Dove in dismissing our claim to the compulsory purchase order made by Haringey Council to support the stadium scheme of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, we have decided not to appeal against his decision. The Judge’s finding on our key ground of challenge turned on his conclusion that the Club had not sufficiently settled its intention to make the changes to the CPO scheme that it had been confidentially discussing with key planning and transport authorities over a period of 12 months or more.

We were very pleased that the Judge expressly acknowledged that we were perfectly entitled to pursue these matters and that the proceedings were a perfectly proper exercise of our rights. He also refused to make a costs order against us in respect of the Council’s and the Club’s costs in these proceedings.

We have throughout sought to act reasonably and properly in the defence of our rights. The Judge’s acknowledgment is a clear recognition that our actions were legitimate and proper.

We have always been willing to negotiate with the club on a reasonable and proper basis. Our efforts towards that end have been unsuccessful so far, but we will continue to try to achieve a proper settlement by agreement if that is possible.

Our other overriding objective is also to arrange for the relocation of our family business as quickly as possible and to preserve the jobs of those we employ. Our relocation will presumably also enable the Club to carry out their stadium development and enable them to achieve their commercial objectives.

The next step will be to vest the land in Haringey Council's ownership and to agree the compensation amount payable to Archway.

We shall also continue to seek to reach an agreement with Archway by private treaty.

We shall provide a further update as matters progress.

Levy is fucking determined to get a free barbeque out of them.

As someone said in here, more business savvy than me, what a great opportunity lost to create a future business relationship.

"Yes, we'll sell our land for your development if we can be your supplier of sheet metal for your kitchens".

Repeatedly shot themselves in the foot. Idiots.

They were stupid enough to fight this, they were never going to think of that.

What pissed me off is they were allowed to fight our plans for years upon years for fucking free.

Lads I've always been embarrassed to ask but....why were Archway so determined to be the one business to stop us? Why were they so obstinate?

Spurs fans everywhere just answered your question - but the answer contains a word we can't use on here, so the answers were spoken, rather than typed. (y)

Tenner says the first bulldozer to knock through archway will be driven by levy while smoking a fat cuban cigar, laughing outrageously to himself.

love how Archway waited until the final day to confirm. They had no intention to appeal, just a final disruption tactic.

ive never doubted that the stadium would eventually built and obviously there is a long way to go before we actually play there, but im just a bit excited at this news. Maybe we'll actually see the building begin soon?

THFC shall also continue to seek to reach an agreement with Archway by private treaty.

Archway still think (forlornly by this statement) they can nick a few extra pennies. THFC are unlikely to offer them much because they can build around them now.
ASMW gambled and lost.
And what is this with the "as quickly as possible?" Why wait until the last possible day for an appeal and then say that?

Realistically, how big a contract would that be? I'm guessing £20k maybe?

Their bargaining chip was saving us 2-3 years of hassle and lawyers fees, which they didn't use.

Even still, I don't blame them for being irrational.

You don't work hard building a business, only to have someone else force you move. In any usual situation, that would be fundamentally unfair.

But there's a housing shortage and regeneration agenda, so the law is on our side. Even still this is driven by money not regeneration.

If we wanted to build a stadium, we've owned enough space to build it 5 years ago. But we couldn't make it viable. So the Council and Mayor's office have bent over backwards to make it so.

We needed the master plan designed this way so we can make enough money out of flats, supermarkets, and colleges - to finance part of the build (clever from our point of view).

And that's the real reason they are moving.

Good luck to them.

Justice Dove's verdict was so savaging that i guess Abramovich decided he was wasting his money

Dove has joined Greaves, Nicholson, MacKay, Blanchflower, Hoddle, Perryman, Klinsmann, Bale et al as Spurs legends
