Incidentally in the same season that we signed Lamela as one of the magnificent 7 , Roma signed 17 new players and sold 11 and that doesn't include a large number of loans in and out. It's no wonder Roma fans don't miss Lamela. They've probably forgotten who he is.

I think we should all take a moment to think about CamdenTownSpur's struggle against the oppressive regime here on Spurscommunity, where his free speech is heavily threatened by the gruesome attempt to silence him, with the freedom of rating a post just the fucking way you want.

And back to Lamela: I think it's funny how the anti-Lamela people so easilly dismiss a good game by him, because his previous game was bad. Especially when you concider the main argument from the other side is that he will likely improve if he gets more playing time. Isn't it worth actually giving him some starts in a row, to see if he can actually do just that? Or are you so determined on him being a flop, that you actually want him to fail, at the expense of our club?

@faze_coys a word of comfort, if your ratings are perfect, you are doing it wrong.
I think Lamela overall has worked out OK. We've overpaid for him, but he is now a consistentish starter for a manager who don't think twice about shutting the door on players he doesn't like. He is one of our best players this season, obviously behind Kane & Rose, on par w/ Eriksen & Bentaleb, he is trying to take on board the gaffers approach, and he will finally have a full preseason after having gained some real PL experience. He isn't great at this point, but certainly quite decent.

I am huge advocate of Lamela, mostly because he has shown signs of his quality but even when he hasn't he has worked hard and actually tried to implement tactical instructions such as the pressing. Also his style of play, even when playing poorly, adds to our fluidity.
However, I would say that over the course of the season it would be very very optimistic to say he has performed as well as Bentaleb or had the same effect as Eriksen (although he has faded).
That's not to say he has been awful, but he has lacked consistency. And also the goals that Eriksen and Chadli provide should come to be expected from him too, hopefully this will come though as he has evidenced huge ability in his movement, team ethic, clever interplay and as his confidence grows hopefully he will take on more responsibility like the Burnely goal and many moments in Serie A.
I agree with your opinion that he has done decently without being consistently great or shit.

So has Bentaleb & Eriksen. Thus the comparison as my approximation of Lamela's quality. I think he is among the players in contention for 4th/5th/6th best player this season.

Oh I agree, many have lacked consistency. But Eriksen has had fazes of the season where he has won us points with a very good goal return sometimes out of nothing where others around him were floundering, he has faded quite dramatically now- I just feel that over the course of the season you would have to value his contribution more highly.
But I certainly agree that he has been no where near the levels of mediocrity that many seem to think in my opinion.

i have decided to post no further comments on the lamela thread hes player that inspires a great reverence amongst his fans and while this is in theory a free speech forum as in the real world its often easier to only say what does not incite retribution from those who dont agree with what you say i have acquired 20 additional nasty red ratings in the last few days solely from giving my honest opinion of lamela or trying to defend myself so and im sure im not alone in this belief this thread is probably best left to this particular group of fans to agree with themselves over the relative merits of lamela
PS: id like to add i will not further comment to any replies or quotes to this thread i cannot win yet again im called a troll and someone has spam rated my psot when all ive done is given reasoned arguments why i dont rate lamela and been villified for it i will use the rest of the site and will not take grudges with me from here or revenge negative rating anyone that is against my belief system
