Okay so to use another example, I have used my natural talents, what there is of them, to become a solicitor.

I get paid a decent amount of money for that and realise that I am lucky in that regard. But if I was to break any law, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, there would be a good chance that I would be struck off and couldn't actually practice law in this country again. Even if it was something like downloading music illegally or travelling an extra stop on the train over the ticket price.

Whereas others would get more of a second chance in those situations, I wouldn't, and if I did get caught doing something then I wouldn't whinge that 'others are able to get away with it' because I realise the benefits I get by being a lawyer in the first place.

In a situation where he probably gets paid more in a week than I do in a year, he needs to realise the same thing.

A bloodsucking lawyer. That explains things :whistle:

High horses, high horses everywhere.

He done a woopsie, and got caught. He'll learn from his mistake and move on, as will we.

It's nothing to do with high-horses.

But he's a professional footballer who knew the risks of doing something like this. If the punishment is therefore as high as a two year ban he can't complain about it at all.

That's his comment after his goal against Barcelona explained then

"What is it like to score against the best team in the world?", Livermore replied "Score against the best team in the world? I play for them."

Can't be doing lines and playing football, if he is in a dark place he has enough money to find the right professionals to help him, not resort to something that could potentially ruin his career.

There's a big difference between having a problem and admitting it, though. Turning to something like a recreational drug is a much easier option.

Many young pro sportsmen are doing the same, and it's all over the world.

Hopefully the Livermore example will make them think twice then.

I don't think taking it on a one-off occasion is a big deal, or even concerning. But the fact is (as has been said on this thread) he's a pro-footballer (of his own choosing) in a supremely privileged position, and as a pro-footballer you absolutely must adhere to certain standards, or face the consequences. He hasn't, and he's facing the consequences. It's no injustice.

The victims here are Hull City, and their fans. They paid a relatively huge amount (their record signing) for Livermore and he's fucked them over in a massive, massive way.

No lawyer, but I imagine he is in breach of contract, with all sorts of penalties liable to be imposed.

He certainly will be. They will be able to sack him without any problems.

That doesn't get them their £8m back though.

If he's in breach of contract they may be able to go after him for some of that money.

Normally you wouldn't be able to go after an employee like that, but when an employee is so minted it could be different.

Probably not something that would be worth doing though, if not from a PR perspective rather than anything else.

He has to live in Hull..

Hull is a dark place alright, forget the 2 year ban he'll probably be sent to join the Nights Watch at Castle Black. Winter is coming.

Jake is a working class boy done good using his natural talents. He gets paid that much because people want to watch him play.

Harry is just a privileged toff who was born into a position of power with no discernable talent or use.

You are aware that Harry flies Apache's! That takes some bloody talent!
