Ah - looking at the Independent today, seems there is a Levy-style way these two come together: buy Trippier and get Ings on a "free" (but overpay on Trippier). Sounds familiar somehow... Maybe not 100% dead deal.

To beat off the competition. This is very interesting.

Ings only goes to tribunal if Burnley can't agree a fee for him (normal free agent rules don't apply to U23s). If we go in with an offer, another club has to match that.

We're simply gazumping Liverpool and the others

I'm sorry but it is purely going to come down to the players choice. IF you look at other players that have been through the same process the fee is rarely above 5 or 6 million. If Ings wants to go to Liverpool he will end up there as long as they pay the tribunal fee.

And JJ has been spot on more times than I care to remember. We all know things can and often do change but in this instance I choose to go with what he says.

I meant it could well have been off yesterday morning, but could be on again now after fresh action yesterday. That's what happened with Davies.

I doubt this will happen due to the sell on fee that Man City have on Trippier.

JJ gives us the latest he knows. Sometimes even that changes. I fully believe JJ when he said that "Ings is going elsewhere", but what if Liverpool have been alerted to another target? etc, etc, etc

Yep, especially when he commits to something. quiet often he is vague so you know when he is sure on something, it's happening.

He's generally vague when he doesn't want to give too much away for obvious reasons.

One of the others I take a lot of stock in is the Journalist, especially his villa info, although he has had some high profile misses (Huntelaar and Farfan).

Ings could probably choose from at least Spurs and Liverpool. Based on the offers, he's chosen Liverpool.

As long as we don't suddenly gazump their offer for Ings, agreeing terms with Burnley isn't worth anything. And if we give Ings a better offer than Liverpool, there's no point in paying that much, since the tribunal fee will be way lower.

It's not like Ings will be thinking: Aaaaaaaww, Spurs offered 12 million for me, they must really love me! I'll go play for them for 50000 quid a week instead of earning 75000 at Liverpool."

I dunno, all the reliable transfer info started in the papers last year, i'd be reluctant to rule out anything.

Liverpool have Origi next season, unless that was a Chelsea style "buy for the sake of buying" transfer last summer.

I could actually see United making a move for Ings anyway.

Sky do have a history of making things up... they seem to own the transfer window and SkyBet where there are markets on players.

Or it's true. Who knows.

I'm surprised there hasn't been any legal action against Sky regarding their transfer BS that fuels their SkyBet profits!

I'd just be very surprised that Spurs have only now made their interests in Ings known. Surely the agent, the player, the clubs and all involved have known since at least Xmas and the amount it'll take? I do tend to go with the train of thought that Ings himself will make up his own mind. Also the clubs must have been talking about Trippier.

In addition Mitchell was supposedly a great fan of Ings according to the January ITK. I guess we'll all find out on Monday or so and then move on.

Doubt Grealish would leave Villa...particularly now.
Loaning Pritchard to Villa might be a shout though.

Yes. If JJ says we're not signing someone, we're not signing someone. I've been on here long enough to know he is easily the best ITK around.

I don't think people are questioning JJ merely suggesting that the market [bids/change of targets] might have changed since his last comment even though it was only yesterday.

However if JJ suggesting that Ings has made up his mind he only wants to play for another club then us upping our offer to Burnley won't make any difference, which would be a shame as I am an Ings fan.

It definitely seems plausible to me that perhaps Ings has changed his mind on destination since the Benteke to Liverpool story broke yesterday. As with anything the ITK can change quickly even if JJ is very reliable.
