The ITK threads, year after year, are hilarious for me. Once it starts up and all sorts of targets are bandied around people get excited, motivated, happy etc however as these targets get signed up by another club a great many members enthusiasm starts to drop and before long our bean counter, scouts etc are all plain stupid, mean, unreliable, you name it. Along comes a comment explaining why, in extremely understandable terms, we couldn't sign this or that player and common sense reigns for 15 minutes until another piece of ITK comes in and then off we all go again.
Best time of the year for me as this almost daily thread, along with the match day one, show the true colours of the majority of Spurs fans on here with their instant craving for success.

im sure hes said similar before..
hertyid:
He's not leaving. He's not leaving. He's not leaving.
One more time.
He's not leaving.

thats about bentaleb

I'm not sure why hertyid keeps repeating this. I haven't seen great concern from anyone regarding the possibility of Bentaleb leaving during this window. The concern is as to whether he will sign a new contract thus ensuring he doesn't leave next year or the year after.

No one craves instant success, what we want is progression and to do that we need to strengthen in key areas. The annoyance is window after window we end up going round in circles as we add a couple for the future and the rest are a much of nothingness. Last season we were crying out for a leader in central midfield, a creative wide player with an actual end product and cover/competition for Kane. Will we get these game changers or will we sell our riff raff and replace them with more Stambouli's, Holtby's and Capoue's? We live in hope.

I would assume he would sign a new contract if he's not happy with his current pay. Whether it will be extended past his current time I don't know that either.

and the lack of a new deal can have a catastrophic effect on his performances if he decides to throw his toys out of his pram. This needs sorting before the pre-season starts as we need all our players to be 100% focused.

The more business we do (and the more players we're linked to), the more it looks like we're building a team that we hope will peak in 3-4 years - in line with the completion of the stadium:

Wimmer (22)
Tripper (23)
Davies (22)
Dier (21)
Yedlin (21)
Alli (19)
Kane (21)
Eriksen (23)
Lamela (23)
Mason (24)
Bentaleb (20)
Pritchard (22)
Rose (24)
Townsend (23)
Carroll (23)

Hopefully we can add the likes of Veljkovic, CCV and Onomah to that list soon.

Exciting times ahead for us.

It's all well and good, saying they should peak in 3-4 years, but if we don't cl how many of those will realistically be here then?

Yeah but you would assume if they all performing to their potential then we would have good chance of making CL.

Rabiot is represented by his mother. Personally always a bit cautious of players represented by family members. Negotiations appear to be more emotive and they have an inflated sense of their importance.

Bentaleb is classic example.

Pundits in France believe Rabiot's mother/agent is a very difficult person to deal with.

Sounds like Franco might need to take one for the team on this...

Ok so the itk seems positive (not sure a few in here agree judging by the gloom) and generally im quite relaxed and feeling positive for next season. Yes we would all like our shiny new play things now but lets remember the players dont report back until next week anyway. Its like knowing what you are getting off santa weeks before christmas but having to wait until the big day to get them. There really is no mega rush just yet
Yeah, I don't get the meltdown. If you ignore the bit about us not getting TA, JJ's quite positive.

I imagine that the answer to the question has a direct correlation to the number of pints you've had.

Also, Baldini has met with her multiple times and they seem to have a good relationship. So I don't think she will actually be an issue. Rabiot wants out. She wants him out. We want him. And we have done the right things so far. She shot down Roma and Arsenal previously, so to still be in the game is positive. Not definitive but something to be hopeful about.

I just realised he looks quite a bit like Loras Tyrell.
