Well you could stick Yedlin in there - he's like lightning, but he'd be crap. Speed isn't the be all and end all, a good positional awareness can negate the need for speed to a large degree, and TA has it. Besides S-Hampton fans almost to a man (or woman) agree it's a bit of a myth about him being slow, certainly not sluggish like Fazio.Seems as slow as Fazio from what I've seen. If we're going to play a high line we need quick defenders. He isn't quick.
Pray for Veljkovich.Pray for Wimmer!
Not really a good indicator, considering when he was out, both Wanyama and Schneiderin were also out for long stretches.
Wimmer is left footed, Dier is right footed. I suspect they will be our 2nd pair for Europa/some cup games.Pray for Wimmer!
What's not to like? 100s of beers, chips and mayo, four Yids...Belgium is now my favourite national team..
It's true though Fonte was the better defender last year...but once again a player signs for Spurs and therefore makes his bloody brilliant. I don't think he is that good of signing and is not an improvement on what we currently have. In my opinion we needed at least three players who are going to make the first team better...after signing number 3 I think it has last summer written all over it.HAHA my first look at 'saintsweb' and..
"I always thought he was ****. Carried by Fonte."
My word.. they are hilarious. I'm going back for some morning reading..
Wanyama missed only 2 of the 12 games Alderweireld missed, while missing 3 games that Alderweireld played.
Schneiderlin missed 4 games of the 12 games Alderweireld missed, while missing 8 of the games that Alderweireld played.
Of those games Wanyama and Schneiderlin missed 2 of the same games in that 13 game stretch.
So I wouldn't say these can be classed as long stretches considering 8 of the 12 games Alderweireld missed had both Wanyama and Schneiderlin playing.
An interesting stat to consider that, to me, shows just how important Alderweireld was to Southampton last season:
The saints recorded a goal difference of +21 in the 26 Premier League games in which he started, with that figure dropping to zero in the 12 games he did not.
