How do you conclude that we've wasted the best part of £100m? Do all 7 players have no resale value? I would guess that Chadli and Eriksen's have gone up, Soldado's cost is nearer £13m than £26m and the others will be sold at a small lost with Lamela to be retained.
You've put the lowest cost on Soldado that I've seen yet.
Regardless of anyone's resale value or Chadil and Eriksen's resale value going up, the money has been wasted because most of those players have not performed, they have been a waste of money. If that wasn't bad enough, we go out and waste more money on Fazio and Stambouli, two players which the manager obviously doesn't want.

Your argument now boils down to ifs and buts, let it go mate.
Back when we spent the 100 million people said close the thread, I'm not letting go until we start getting some success on the pitch and anyone who thinks this deal grants Levy some special kind of immunity from deserved criticism is making a big mistake.

No-one is saying he doesn't deserve criticism, the point is that he's trying to move the club forward and with today's announcements he is doing just that. Whatever you may think of his as a chairman you cannot say that the thread title is correct.

Yes I can.
I've never doubted that Levy wants to move the club forward or tries to move the club. I've criticised him for some of the ways he has gone about it. The constant changing of managers, not having a proper scouting network for 7 years when he was in charge for 8 years at the club when it's a very important tool for his model, not sticking to a strategy, hiring a DOF and giving him very little power. These are some of the arguments for him holding the club back.
If people want to argue the case for Levy that's fine but at least acknowledge there are arguments against. Don't just come on here and say close thread. This is meant to be a place for debate.

I will, I don't see why I shouldn't. When the case is watertight for him not holding the club back, which it isn't right now, then I will back down.
It will also mean the club is delivering success on the pitch so it is a win, win.

I agree it is a great day for the club, this is what Levy is good at and should concentrate on rather than being a defacto DOF.

Best chairman in football?

Up there, when you take into account the teams we are competing against.

You dont have to be good if you have the resources Chelsea, City and Man U have. I would say he is the best since David Dein. He did a similar good job for Arsenal back in the day. Levy job is now is even tougher with the wealth of our competitors and not just in the UK.

I love it when you are humble Mullers!
