You must have been a huge fan of Clinton Dempsey then and have his first name on a few Spurs shirts  And, if you haven't done it already, name your - eventual - son "Clinton"...
No mate Clint is a shite name, Clinton on the other hand...

Indeed I'll take guaranteed end product over risky pace all day long.

Yeah, but it's about the impact of the collective though, not a direct comparison head-to-head. What if that pace opens up things for others more such that more net goals are scored?

As things currently stand, our attack isn't quite good enough. We were easily shut out by any side willing to sit back, compact with organization, and counter.

So if we bring in alternates to our current line, for example Chadli as discussed, let's say we lose some of his 11 goals. Let's say he scores only five next season, which I think we could agree would be a minimum expectation for him. Let's say his alternate addition scores another five. Now most importantly, let's say Kane, Eriksen, Lamela, and Townsend (if he's still at Spurs) collectively score ten more goals next season as a result of oppositions being considerably more opened up due to us having brought in more pace, aggression, and dribbling ability in tight spaces (as we have very little of these things currently in our attack), then we've amassed a net gain of nine goals.

Much of our problem is we simply do not get forward quickly enough, we do not run at defenders aggressively enough to make them backpedal (Townsend even no longer does this as he looks just as scared as the others), and we do not become incisive until we've allowed opposition sides the time to compact and organize. If we can bring in even one option with the willingness to run at defenders with direct intent, the impact can be utterly profound as our current baseline in this category isn't even an acceptable minimum for a professional side, let alone one of our level.

This was a generous scenario in terms of minimums. Given how poor that current baseline is, I suspect our offense would improve immensely with induction of more pace, intent, and aggression. Chadli will likely score more than five goals anyway. There is a very, very good reason Poch & Co. seem to be actively looking for multiple pacey additions to our attack this summer.

What impresses me about N'Jie is his consistency. One of the criticisms (not that I necessarily agree) of Berahino was that he would score 8 in 5 games, but then 2 in the next 10 (not accurate figures, but you get the point). N'Jie on the other hand, scored 8 goals and 9 assists in 33 games- and he didn't start many of them. He played 1718 minutes, at an average 52 minutes a game (which makes the figures pretty decent, as on average, he's achieved those figures in just over half a game)

Of those 33 games, he scored or assisted in 15 (in only one game did he score and assist), which is nearly a contribution every other game. If he can improve on that, especially by scoring more, we' will have a very good player on our hands.

This doesn't read right. That would mean more often than not he came on as a first-half substitute...

Unless Mason is fully fit now, I hope he gives Alli his debut at United, because from what I've seen of Dier so far he would get worked over by their midfield.

Not necessarily IMO. Looks to me like Dier was aiming to cover the back four and close passing lanes. Which was what we needed when Fellaini strolled past us last season. I'd be happy with Alli starting most games but I'm pretty sure this Dier experiment has been with this game in mind. If Utd pop up with a 4-3-3 as expected I can see the use for him dropping back to cover.

He started some games and played the full 90, and in some games he came on as a second-half substitute, so it could very-well average at that.

But you said he didn't start any of them, that was the point I was making. Either way, I think it was either a mistake or I've read it wrong.

From videos and best bits my personal opinion this guy would suit us better than werner but I would not mind either but the way he links with lacazette when breaking would be great to see with kane. Then he also has lamela and others to feed off. Has blistering pace and is technically good. Would be happy wither way but this guy preference.

Minutes wise last season in a good league he was on the pitch for 16 games, scored 7 goals and set up 7 goals. He has serious pace too. I'd be very happy if we signed him.

Nice to see the links pick back up. As others have mentioned, maybe it was determined that Werner isn't quite prepared for a move just yet.

N'Jie would obviously give us the youth, versatility and pace in attack but he's also likely more ready to contribute to the first team than a guy like Werner.

In the London Evening a Standard article it mentions we may have turned our attention to Austin after being "priced out" of. A move for Berahino. Hopefully that's not the case because in my opinion adding players like N'Jie and Berahino could really transform how we attack against certain teams.

Scarily the poll had Austin winning the poll of 'best value for money'

Slightly off topic, but out of interest who would everyone prefer between;

Berahino and Werner, or Austin and N'Jie?
