What happened to Rose?
Quad injury, should be back quickly reportedly
What happened to Rose?
I don't think he necessarily needs to play next to a visionary CM. He needs to play in a 442, with proper wingers who attack full backs. His job should be to do the simple things he does so well: protect the ball, give it to the wingers, or, if the opposition drop off, drive forward. All this buggering around in a midfield 3 (or is it a forward 3?) is doing no-one any favours, especially Dembele.Dembele naturally drifts back into the middle and retains possession. He's generally strong under pressure and can bring the ball forward. I prefer him in the middle of the pitch and next to Bentaleb against Chelsea, we saw a very decent double pivot with those two. No he will not always immediately instigate some amazing attack, but he will protect the ball out from our keeper and win it back when we are defending. Ideally he needs to play next to a more visionary, but similar CM and unfortunately we don't have one.
Around the time we bought Eriksen I remember reading comments by Ajax fans saying that he all too often "disappears" for large parts of games. His Denmark International manager also slated him for not pulling his weight.Eriksen needs to buck himself up, all this hype about him being class and he does fuck all way too often.
He was playing the central attacking role, the pitch is his oyster and he should be pulling the strings and providing chances for Kane.
Otherwise as I said earlier drop him and play someone who cares.
We've got Dembele, Pritchard, Mason could even do a job further up so he has to be playing out of his skin to keep the spot. Chadli can also play in the middle.
I'd love to see us just play with 3 pacey bastard wingers in that attacking trio and run the shit out of teams lol.
Oh really? Ya think? I was actually agreeing with you and can see the wood very clearly: I am not at all disheartened by our display. Man U's strength is their forward line and we restricted that.Du siehst den Wald vor lauter Bäumen nicht
Something that could apply to many here.

Jesus, the guy is what, 22 ? Hes been one of the few good signings in the last couple of years.
The way we play we are occasionley going to give the ball away in midfield, as long as the defense is organised then it shouldn't be a problem, yesterday Alderveireld made the wrong decision in leaving Rooney to come across to cover so is as much to blame as Bentaleb, something i have not seen mentioned on here.Typical Bentaleb really. Not bashing the guy but he is always far to casual with his passing and its happened time and time again. When he gave that ball away, Pochettino turned away in disgust and headed back to the bench knowing what was next... a Man Utd goal! Bentaleb really needs to get the passing sorted, its awful he can't pass 15 yards still.

Also today was the perfect example of why inverted wingers just aren't a great idea (unless they're world beaters)
We made nothing for Harry but had a couple of opportunities to get to the by-line. Chadli, Dembele, Eriksen all guilty.
TBF Kane should have squared it when he was through for 1-0.
To be fair, United never actually scored against us and only had one shot on target.1 - 0 to United...do you understand what restriction means?
Make an effort defensively.watched him quite closely and he is only interested when the ball comes to him.Even with the ball his accuracy has been poor for a while now.The problem is we all know he's capable of producing that one moment of brilliance so we are scared to leave him out.but truth be told we just haven't seen that of late.think the feel/excuse offered end of last season was he was knackered...but doesn't look to have changed to me.im a big fan when he's on form but maybe we need to consider the team dynamic and give one of the younger players a go now?Eriksen is only 1 player. If he isn't receiving the ball in the right place or when he lays the ball off the next pass is back to the keeper, what is he supposed to do?
The usual wide collection of awful to good comments in here today.
Given we are missing some vital components ie pace and a CM, I thought we did well today and can take positives out of the game...
Our possession/ball retention for the first 20 odd mins up to the goal was excellent apart from 1-2 misplaced passes.
Game of small margins. Kane put in Eriksen with a lovely chipped pass, what if he had buried it instead of missing by inches ?
We were rattled after the goal which was to be expected but at least as much of this passage of play was due to Utd actually playing better.
Back 5 were all very good today and is a good sign going forward. To limit Utd to 1 shot on target at Old Trafford is to be applauded no matter how poor it is perceived that Utd played. We at least had a hand in them doing so. Alderweireld and Walker were both excellent I felt.
'' why did we wait until the 85th minute to start playing like that?''
Find those kind of comments a bit funny tbh. The reverse one is when we are 1 goal up and we get 'why did we start flapping about with 5 mins to go ?'
The crowd get antsy, the players begin to get a little antsy and slowly and subconsciously start retreating a little deeper. When that time came today with Utd, I thought we did a good job of making the last 5-10 mins pretty uncomfortable for them. If the ball had rolled a slightly different way once out of about 3-4 moments we could have been looking at 1-1.
Conclusion - we are clearly short on pace and a bigger CM presence and need to sort that. Given this isn't the manager or players fault, I thought we acquitted ourselves well today and tbh we should be the happier set of fans if you look beyond the score line.
Lastly, Hugo is so good I'd have fancied him to get a sneaky hand on Walkers unlucky stab into the goal.
