BTW anyone know if Lesniak playing today mean that he accepted the contract he was offered.

Rumour was that he was leaving as he didn't like the extent of competition and prospective lack of games.

Was reading the Redcafe thread on Oxford when someone bought up Edwards

he did also post this later on

anyway, this is all getting a little too west hammy - and i know i started it :D

no onomah or winks then, i'm guessing poch doesn't like them being out of sync from the rest of the squad(even if they are unlikely to feature).

Tbf these posts are pretty spot on. Oxford is decent technically for a CB having received good early coaching and learning as a striker however, when combined with his massive growth it meant that his technical ability was above average for a defender but his physique allows him to be commanding and dominate in the air, e.g. Eng u17s where he hasn't looked as good as you'd think. Additionally when he comes through West Ham who don't have anywhere near the amount of talent we have and is their poster child combined with their ageing team they can afford to bring him through and now he looks good.

When you look at someone like CCV who is short for a defender yet has still learned how to dominate taller players whether it's being able to get the jump on them from being in the right place at the right time, or from building his strength it shows that he still can improve as he has always had to work to counter his disadvantage. He now how but still may grow. Oxford has always had an advantage over his opponents, and so may have scrimped on the finer points of defending. He is now being raved about but I'd be confident in saying that we have at least 2 CBs in our ranks as good or better than him.

What's next on schedule?

Anyone looking to leave the club on loan before the window shuts? Does anyone need to?

Seems besides Oduwa and Veljkovic, everyone else should either remain or has already been released/sold off.

Bit weird to have only one player out on loan this season so far though.

CCV is what, 6'? seeing his dad was 6' 5'' he'll probably still grow a couple more inches. Not really a major problem as he's great in the air.

I know former olympic high jumper Dalton Grant (who is now a strength and conditioning coach) was training Marcus Edwards last summer. Hopefully, Marcus is doing some more of the same this summer to fill out a bit and cope with the physical demands as he progresses up the development ladder.

Slightly out of left field but I just wanted to say I've been impressed and pleasantly surprised by Ehiogue as the u21s coach. Ramsey, and Inglethorpe before him, got a lot of praise for how they coached and developed the youth team whereas Ugo has kind of gone under the radar. Yes last seasons results may not have been quite as good as previous years, but that's down to a number of a factors, with players out on loan, promoted to first team and u18s brought in towards end of season. What's really impressed me is he comes across so well in interviews, and says all the right things. He emphasises that the players have not yet made it so they need to keep working, he highlights areas for improvement, yet he also is quick to praise those that deserve it. It's also invaluable to have a coach with such a wealth of experience which he can pass on. I'm sure the likes of CCV, Ball and Maghoma have already been aided in their games just from asking questions/getting little tips on playing the cb role at a high level. So what was a slightly surprising appointment, (of someone who hadn't had a great deal of coaching experience I don't believe?) I think has been very successful and i look forward to seeing how he continues.

fair comment, but Ugo was working in Spurs Academy for a couple of years (or maybe more) so has learned from John McDermott how to develop players.

There was an interview in last season's thread with Ugo where he talks about Ramsey and Sherwood and their role in carrying the Spurs youth development dna forward, so there is no doubt he picked up a lot of knowledge at Spurs.

Also although Ugo has a good pedigree as an E international cb etc, I don't think he would have been given the role if he was not thought to be competent by McDermott. As a matter of detail, whilst Sherwood didn't report to McDermott as u21 coach OS has it that Ugo does - which I think is good news as it means McDermott can still influence the u21's and progress into the first team.

But back to your post, I agree that he seems to have managed an almost seemless transition of u21 coaching from Ramsey which is a great achievement. I like him

There is a loan window to football league clubs which opens after the main TW ends so there will be a few loan players leaving then I'd imagine.

If Tim is still short of a DM at Villa I could imagine him asking about Mios which would be a great move - but that needs to be done within the TW ending 1 September, otherwise I think he will go on a Championship loan (unless he goes abroad)

i agree and given the club bangs on about putting a system in place that promotes continuity then i see no reason why ehiogu shouldn't be our next manager when that time comes.

Ball, McEvoy and Coulthirst badly need loans, Miller, Sonupe and Ogilivie would also benefit, and some of the more physically developed younger lads could also go if the right offer came in (Caulker was playing in League 1 while still in the Academy.)

It's funny caulker had a lot of really good loans but never pushed on, I remember him playing against Arsenal in the carling cup he looked good. He seems to have been a bit found out, wonder what could have been if he had stayed at Spurs been better than vlad

I think Ehiogu needs to show more before he can be considered for the first team job. Maybe he could be assistant manager for Poch's replacement, and then possibly get the main job later on.

Edwards is still the same as last year,he might be a bit bigger round the shoulders but not much.

The secret footballer recently wrote that Caulker lacked aggression.

Haven't heard anything. Knowing our policy though I'm going to assume he must have signed if he is getting games, knowing we could play Amos there.

I think Coulthirst may genuinely be kept around depending on what happens in the transfer, even if it just means travelling to EL matches. I think he has played enough in preseason and well enough in the u21s yesterday for Poch to maybe consider him. If he went again, we would only have one striker unless Sterling started playing regularly, or of course Loft came up.

Agree with all the others though they can all go on loan, whether it's to create space in u21s and improve transger fee like McEvoy or genuinely develop them like Miller and Ogilvie. Plus we have plenty who could step into u21s.

Ye the fact that CCV is dominating now is a good sign, he has at least another year of growing left. Also I think Dalton Grant's boys played cricket at my club for a bit, one of em was a quite a sharp bowler iirc.

Highlights from yesterday

http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/watch-u21s-v-everton-110815/

Shaq really looked a nuisance though good to see. Where was Lloris for that goal though haha, even gave a little apology.

Apparently someone got a picture of CCV having words with Lloris before the game

Spurs academy product (and big brother of Christian) Jacques Maghoma has scored on his debut for Birmingham tonight. I know next to nothing about him but he once went on to be a first team regular in a Football Manager save I had so I have a soft spot for him.

Did he look stronger though? You can increase your strength a lot without adding much bulk, which is what you would want to do if you are playing a s a AMC, as you want to keep that agility and flexibility.

Decentish midfielder, Martin Jol is said to have been thinking of trying Jacques out in the first team squad but never did
