You can't play on the counter with no pace, playing with an inverted forward on the counter with no pace is just ridiculous, all because of the inverted forward obsession, MP needs to look at the game and see what it needs, football blinkers.
Bloody frustrating, don't think we would have conceded with a Walker/Trippier combo on the right and it would have pegged them back with Trippiers pace.
Plenty of positives but some serious negatives too.

Completely agree I have to say I never really rated Poch.. I remember Matt Le Tissier saying his main weakness was he could never change a game with substitutions and his teams never won after going behind. But I have to say our transfer policy has been negligent and this does not help..

Pochettino on Kane: "He was tired, had to come later into pre-season. He's better but needs time."

We need players with bollocks (like Mason and Kane have) - too many pussies in team who don't have the heart.

High pressing is great in theory but it has to be consistent for it to work and there must be a different way of playing when it doesn't.

The problem is it's so hard to achieve consistent pressing, particularly when you're 2-0 up and you get complacent. It's not something you really want to do if your a footballer, and so it's so hard to keep it up for a full 90.

We have to be able to adapt to the situation, it was very worrying today. Hopefully we will see improvement.

That lets Poch off far too easily. The main problem is he is wedded to one approach absolutely.

Yeah we don't have an abundance of wide options, but it was hardly a radical idea to put on a Rose/Trippier or both and so that meant we had pace and defensively would have been stronger out wide where the threat was coming from.

But no, 4-2-4 with free roles galore until the bitter end with Poch.

If memory serves then the same happened against Stoke last season, we were screaming for Yedlin to get chucked on and scare their left back.
Exactly like today.
I don't know of any other coach who would play an inverted forward on the counter who has no pace and no acceleration, it's pretty dim.

Today I realized why Harry was so good as a manager for us. We don't need a fancy system or inverted wingers with double pivots and all that...we need the wealth of talent we have to be fired up, to be motivated, for there to be a team spirit, for them to fight and play with guts. It's why the best we've played under the last 3 managers was with Sherwood (who was the most similar) - even despite a squad completely out of harmony.

It's why Harry can't succeed at the lesser clubs in each league either, where you need more than just "go do your thing" over the course of a season, where the players aren't that great and need tactical guidance - here's where Pulis is so good, he does both.

I seriously don't think Poch will make it til Christmas, and I like him as a person. Kane and Lloris paper over the massive cracks, at some point that will break.

I wasn't in favour of Poch. FDB seemed to me far more suited to our style (not forgetting the ex Ajax players we have) . Poch's system relies heavily upon that key CM. It was obvious last year .. He needs heavy backing in the window for that individual or its pointless playing his system.

Poch was just outsmarted by Mark Hughes today. Simple as that.

They made changes, shifted formation and we didn't react at all. Their goals were coming - I'm sure most of us could see it, and that Ireland was the main problem, but instead we just decided to roll the dice and see it out.

Completely agree about the lack of leadership. But that doesn't only have to come from the players on the pitch. Poch and his coaching staff can show leadership and provide that experience from the touch line too. But they don't. We just look completely rudderless at the moment.

I try not to be knee jerk but Lamela... give up your 11 shirt and get the fuck out of my club. I believed in you, thought you could improve but no. FFS, every time you come on it's like we're playing with less men. No leaders in the club. One striker and no reserves. Levy get your fucking wallet out and get who Poch wants. We will improve but by the end of the season, we'll look at these two dropped points and see them as the points that could've got top 4.

Roll on the next game. It's bordering on a must win for Poch, which is scary at this stage of the season.
I don't think its a must win. Were playing away against a confident Leicester team, and it would take a big improvement to win up there. A draw would be an OK result.
This might be a difficult season for us. I think we have to hold our nerve a bit, support the players, and hope that poch can improve his game management skills. Its too early to be talking about must win games.

I don't think FDB would have been a great difference either. He is remarkably similar to AVB when you look at them.

I would love to see this team with a manager most noted for his motivational/man management capabilities - Poch and AVB have both cause or presided over massive divides in the squad. Hell, most people didn't like Sherwood but that was the one time the squad was happy with Ade since he signed permanently.

I'm not surprised personally... I predicted a bad start to the season and so far i'm being proved right.

The only good thing that could possibly come out of that shambles today is that our chairman now puts his fingers into that wallet and signs some players for us. Two games to late though.
