Just seen the score, pretty poor to give away a 2-0 lead at home to bloody Stoke

Can anyone give me a brief match report

60 minutes where we took it to Stoke. Kane comes out after the 2nd goal for a severe defensive formation and we forget what defending is.

I said it last week and ill say it again now, the season started on the 8th August not 2nd September. To go into the season with only one recognised striker is completely disgraceful and quite frankly unbelievable.

Why are people blaming Lamela for this? Yes he was s*** but there's something endemically wrong with the way we're managed on the football side, both in terms of on-field strategy and player recruitment. Lamela is scape goat for something much bigger than him.

Despite the Bale money (and other sales), we're so far from competing with the big boys it's depressing.

It's fucking ridiculous the treatment he's getting. He didn't play very well, but he is not the reason we lost. If he started and played shit all game then somewhat understandable (if you ignore all his assists last season) but he played for 30 mins when we we already crap for the first 15 on the second half. Someone needs to fill the Jenas role I guesse

We were fine first 15 of second half, went to crap when Mason and Kane came off, and Lamela was one of them.

I really want Lamela to come good but it was clear he was going to offer nothing every time the ball went to him at 2-2. He can't beat a man in the prem. At some point we need to call it a day, we can't keep carrying him hoping something clicks. He works as hard as anyone but just can't make a difference.

The important thing is that we are making a profit in the transfer window. Anybody can win matches, but how many can make a profit in today's hyper-inflated market. So let's keep some perspective. Football isn't about what happens on the pitch, it's about what happens at the bank.

This is the way Levy must think we all talk at the pubs and in forums such as this.
Whilst it's piss poor that we've not addressed the weak areas by now, today was a result of nothing more than poor game management.

It wasn't as if they got their goals through an impressive 5/10 minute burst. They'd been dominating since the start of the half, and Pochettino had ages to react to it and stop it before the inevitable happened.

Signings will make our plan A more effective, but we really need to be formulating a plan B and plan C, and adapt the tactics to what is happening on the field.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean to single out Dembele, just saw him as an option, also although he was totally anonymous in the 2nd half Erikksen is one of the few players we have who still has the potential to get a goal out of nowhere, which is why I would be reluctant to take him off when Kane is already off.
I understand your point...yeah, he did get us some late goals...
We really need some quality players

What do you think happens to business when they keep posting losses. Come on seriously. We spent 100 million a couple of windows. We now got rid most of it. Money does not always equal success.

Can we make one thing clear, Kane came off because he was injured. I keep seeing people slate Poch for taking Kane off as if he chose to do so.

spot on.. and no berating on Toby giving away the penalty.. can you imagine if Kaboul was the one instead of Toby?

oh, and the 2 CBs were reacting slowly to Ireland's cross for the 2nd goal too as far as I can remember.. can you imagine if Fazio and was one of them?

We were fantastic for 75 minutes... crap for 15.

It's to be expected with such a young team.

They will improve quickly. It's not the end of the world. There was so much good play from us in that game. It was a bit of a freak result in the end. Stoke didn't deserve it. They got lucky, we got sloppy. I don't think it was a pen.

Also, everyone. It's the 15th of August. We'll be alright. I'm happy a result like this happened early on. It means at least the players can learn. They're mostly kids.
I won't mark as 'disagree' but ' fantastic for 75 minutes' ? I just don't see where you get this from. I'm not sure Stoke got that lucky. The penalty was soft, but Toby didn't argue about it at all,it was a Lamelaesque challenge

Where has anyone said that Lamela was the reason we lost? Every time he plays poorly and people criticise him, it's the same shit over and over again from his apologists - as if not being at fault is somehow justifiable for being a bit shit. He was diabolical today, there's no getting away from it. Lost the ball a few times and gave away four fouls, I think. All in 25 minutes. Should we just ignore that and all be such great happy-clappy supporters

LOOOL you guys make me laugh. We played really well and i saw alot of that "attacking football" people on here criticize the team for not playing. Sure it was a tough loss but that happened because of Poch's subs. bentaleb needs to be dropped until he can sort himself out, Dembele was a beast and was beastly for 90 mins created alot of space. He took shots and actually attempted to pass forward. Lamela clearly needs to be dropped as well. let him play with the under 21's till he sorts himself out. I'm fine if we dont bring in a cm because dier is instilling confidence the more he plays that DM role.

All in all we almost snatched defeat from the jaws of certain victory and we dropped 2 points but I for one (mostly) like what I'm seeing from our play. People on here need to chill out. Everyone looks like they want to win and those who dont or are off the pace can and will be replaced since we actually have depth

Was a def pen.
Lamela is def shite.
It def wasn't his fault we lost.
We def need a leader out there.
Imo this 2 in front of back four, left footers on the right, right footers on the left playin narrow as fk is frankly fkin awful.
I've no confidence in Poch, never seen anything to make me believe he's the man to take us forward but plenty to make me think he's not.
Def not saying that just because we didn't win. Just my general opinion.
And def don't see any point in sacking him.
We have to accept this style of play and the fact we're mediocre. Sad but true.
Still tippy tappy on edge of goal instead of clearing it once in a while. Accident waiting to happen.
You can see it coming. I wonder why Poch and players can't.
