I missed the first home game as I was on holiday so today was my first of the season.

All in all I was pretty happy with how we played, team seemed good.

Good
- CB pairing dealt with Lukaku very well.
- Alli's contribution was very good.
- Dier impressed me, thought he had a very good game.
- Danny Rose is a decent full back.
- On another day we could have scored 3 or 4.

Not so good
- Kane not scoring - particularly the 1-1 with the keeper although that was down the opposite end and I've not seen a replay yet so will wait for that.
- Chadli defensively switches off far too frequently.
- Bentaleb has lost any sort of forward momentum he had - not sure if that's him or a tactical choice.
- The ref.
- On this day we didn't score 3 or 4.

All in all I'm quite positive.

Thought we were unlucky in front of goal today, by far the better side, just need a win and we will be fine. Only gripe was the lateness of subs (other than enforced)I was screaming at tv for Poch to switch Mason for Pritchard for an eternity and he made that sub 20 mins too late.

Positive from today was a long awaited clean sheet. Need to add finishing touches to squad and crack on.

Lastly welcome back Danny Rose superb today, and Dier was a beast in midfield. Motm was Tim Howard.

Today was supremely frustrating because we didn't take the three points. Beyond that, I was really happy with how we played overall.

In my opinion, those unhappy with how we played are letting the lack of the full three points bias heir view online performance. We could easily have won 2-0 or 3-0, and virtually every Spurs fan (even most of the Incorrigible Basterds) would have put big money on Kane finishing that 1-on-1 with Howard. Even assuming the other chances weren't so great, we still *should* have taken all three points and been plenty happy with it.

We've played well for the most part so far. We just need to put it all together and I'm certain that the results will fall into place.

I suppose it's a shame to be debating this after one of his performances. Whilst I agree he has a good attitude / is a trier that can only take you so far and does mean he is not limited. He does strike me as amounting to more than Dean Marney, Jamie O'Hara or Jake Livermore.

I think the comparison with Lampard is generous. People forget Mason is a lot older than Lampard was and I think Lampard showed overall better technique. Mason is the same age now that Lampard was when he signed for Chelsea, there is a big difference there.

I think the comparison is more in the manner in which they play, moving beyond the striker to make shooting opportunities.

I think the age comparison you suggest is misleading though. Mason is entering only his second season of top flight Football, Lampard had already had a few by the time he moved to Chelsea.

Lampard is obviously the better player, but there's no reason, that I can see, why Mason can't emulate him. If he weighs in with just half of the goals Lampard had over his career, he'd put himself right up there for legend contention.

I like what I'm seeing with Mason. The goals will come for him I'm sure.

A decent enough display from the team today,by the looks of things they might be finding their feet and with the addition of the new signings things might be looking up for a change.

I'm worried we might not win a game in September. It's quite a concern as I can't see where the next win is coming from.

Sunderland away - our record there is poor
Palace home - their away form is good and they just beat Chelsea
Man city home - they're on fire.

Two hopefully decent attacking signings so far but it's an absolute joke when we've had four games and have to wait until September before they can play. Momentum is everything in football and we are stalling now.

9pts dropped due to lack of preparation in terms of playing staff. This is not negativity .. It's fact ..

I stated this some weeks ago and got lambasted for it. Let's hope after the break we can push on a go on a good run.

That game was an exact carbon copy of the game at home against Newcastle in October 2013. Tim Krul played a blinder that day, and everyone was convinced we had better football in us. Unfortunately, we had a difficult run of games afterwards, got drubbed in a few, and AVB was off.

We desperately needed to win this game. 3 points from the first 4 games is a huge problem for one very specific reason: our upcoming schedule is absolutely brutal after we play Sunderland away.

September 20th: Crystal Palace (H)

September 23rd: Arsenal (H)

September 26th: Manchester City (H)

October 1st: Monaco (A)

October 4th: Swansea (A)

October 17th: Liverpool (H)

October 22nd: Anderlecht (A)

Do we have the squad to rotate and get results against Arsenal, Monaco, and Anderlecht? If not, will our first XI be able to cope with so many games in quick succession? In some ways, Pochettino has had a terrible hand dealt to him. Brutal cup draws, late arrivals of attacking options, early season injuries, and some loss of form from Kane. Though, some of that should've been contemplated when we decided to leave some of our business until the end of the transfer window.

I think Son and Eriksen need into this side starting with Sunderland and absolutely hit peak form quick. The lack of end product across our squad require them to each hit 10 goals for us to be successful. Otherwise, the anger and negativity will build, which will have an adverse impact on such an inexperienced side.

That's 4 games now. This is gonna be our coulda, shoulda, woulda season isn't it?

We've not played too badly so far but we need to be far more ruthless both in scoring and seeing games out.

Supremely frustrating but with Son and Njie to come as well as a couple of others, I'm confident.

Ref looked have a good game on MOTD, f@# king clown

Watching MotD you can see that we clearly had the lion's share of the chances. The ref was crap, but we really should've buried some of those chances. Should've won comfortably today. Hopefully fresh new faces up top like N'Jie and Son will help. Still need another #9 though to give Kane a push.

Don't get why so many on here are ruing Eriksen being out in relation to creativity

Mason was far more penetrating than him today and I don't even rate him.

It adds to the pain when the ref gave everything their way. Team was definitely lacking pace and we desperately missed Eriksen today, he would've made the difference. Dier played well but it's abundantly clear that he's a CD and not a DM. Bring on the new boys and let's have some fun. Atmosphere was great at times today, best I've seen for quite a while.

I'm for certain to get a lot of flack for this, but we need to consider playing Trippier and Rose based on their ability getting the ball up the pitch. I just think Kyle Walkers wide game and speed isn't what it once was, and with our winger play atm, we need people to move down.

Having said that, where we are currently are in the table is frustrating, however I think our biggest weakness from last season, being our back line, has improved tremendously. We are still missing that missing link to connect the full game together, but this is a work in progress and you have to have a realistic expectation that this is another transition season and take it

Today was a step in the right direction, but as frustrating as it may sound this season may be yet another transition season for us with the large turnover of players. 13/14 was players, 14/15 was manager, and 15/16 is starting to look like players again. Ideally we want neither. Hopefully that will be next year.

If we add a couple to what we have now it's going to take time to click and there's a lot of young lads in the team now too. I think we've got to be aiming to go on a really good run towards the end of the season this time to give us confidence for the next one. What's going to be key is if we can retain our best players or not next summer.

Ideally we want a solid enough finish with minimal business needing to be done next year in my opinion.

..Myself too during the close season .. Apparently players not in place in August doesn't affect our points haul ... Well that stats out the f**king window now. Just hope we get that DM/playmaker.
