There were positives no doubt - Dier in particular, the fact that Poch brought on Alli and Pritchard ahead of Lamela. the difference Rose made but it has been a very poor start to the season and the pressure on the next natch , Sunderland away, will be immense. Although Dembele played well before being injured, his inclusion, in that position, has been symptomatic of our problems this season ie lack of pace in forward positions. His injury should at least force Poch into playing either Njie, Son or Pritchard in the next match as I am not totally sure he would have done otherwise..

It still worries me when I watch the other rmatch highlights and see teams like Palace, Villa , Leicester, and West Ham play with so much more pace and threat compared to our ponderous build up play. I really hope this is just down to the players Poch was left with( soon to be upgraded at least by Son and Njie) and not down to Poch's own tactics. Also, I still think we should bring in Austin to help out Kane . He is a proven premier league striker available at the right price. We have brought in a couple of pacy support strikers, we now need an alternative to Kane ,someone who can come on as sub or go 2 up front when required or just be competition to start. To me it is obvious and I don't understand why we are not doing it.

This is a very big problem I keep seeing, especially when some of the managers have only had half a season or just this season with their new clubs and they are already looking better than us. I'm not happy that clubs i see to be lower that us are playing better football than us when we supposedly have some "top manager" at the helm. Even Norwich and Swansea look better than us.

Yesterday reminded me of some of the home games under redknapp where we would look decent but couldn't score because our strikers misfired or the opposition keeper had a blinder.

At least one of those was against Everton, too...

Yes, agreed, I purposely left out those 2 as they didn't play yesterday and were not on MOTD but Swansea in particular look much better than us and , to be honest, did for most of last season. Looks like we missed out on Ayew too?

Thought we played very well, excellent performance from all of our defence. Dier started poorly and then then really grew in to the game. All newbs looked great. Mason was great until he tired. Just all in all unlucky to not score

Agree with all your post except the part in bold. Extremely poor finishing was the reason we didn't score, luck had nothing to do with it.

We started brilliantly last season - winning 2 in 2. Even then people complained we weren't ready.
We dropped points not because of lack of preparation - but because of not taking the chances - whether its Eriksen Vs United or Kane Vs Stoke or Chadli,Kane,Mason Vs Everton yesterday.

Had we taken those chances - you wouldn't be complaining.

Don't place any large wagers on your last sentence.

Need more than just a good attitude. Quality, ability and conversation of chances win games. He lacks this in my opinion.

Well I think he has the first 2 ok, they will manifest further as he matures in the role.

As for the third, he's certainly prompted conversation on his finishing here, so all boxes ticked!;)

Hmm i thought the two clear cut chances we had Mason and Kane took reasonably decent shots and Howard made very good saves. Other days they would have gone in. As to the shooting from the god knows how many half chances we had, I'd agree there was a lot of awful shooting going on

The defence looked solid barring Walker, and Dier was a beast. Some of our build up play was immense, but our finishing really let us down badly. There are plenty of positives, but many won't see that because again we didn't pick up 3 points.

Thought walker was great defensively bar that brain fart where he tried to control the long ball and nutmeg the striker

Agree with you that luck had nothing to do with it, but not that it was ALL extremely poor finishing.

Kane yes, Chadli yes, but I think Mason did as well as he could with his 2 efforts, particularly the second when he was going across the keeper from a relatively tight angle. Not unlucky, because Howard did everything right, but not extremely poor finishing.

Haven't we just signed two players to rectify the slow build up play?
exactly. This will make a huge difference. + add a striker and class DM and we'll look good.

This wont be our year though, a cup semi final and 7th place for us i'm afraid.

Next year with a settled squad and not many changes we need to hit the ground running. Currently we have a very young squad which is still massively in transition but certatinly there were some real positives yesterday.

Yea but that was poch's fault not masons, he clearly isn't a RW and should of brought on a RWinger or at least played Alli there for some pace out wide
Agree, moving Mason RW effectively ended his influence on the game. He may be many things but a winger he is not. If you haven't got extreme pace out wide then you need power Mason has neither.

That was a decent performance and I'm surprised to see it described as a bore draw in some papers. Everton were decent too and this fixture is one I look forward to each year. Last year it was a bit of a positive turning point in a 2-1 win. Although poch didn't play Soldado and Kane again afterwards for reAsons only he knows. Those that can't recognise that this was better than the previous three games aren't really watching. Just like those who claim the previous three performances were good.

My faith in poch is rebounding a bit, with the return of rose, the dropping and hopeful sale or loan of lamela, and a much more aggressive and attacking display yesterday. Add Son and njie to either side of Eriksson, and bring in another no.9 (Austin), and we should be competitive.

Every CF now a days, whoever it may be, drift out wide on occasions. It's part of the modern game.

I agree but Harry seems to do it more often these days and he also stays to deep at times. I think he's trying to hard and also knows he isn't getting the service so he goes looking for it, its because the team is to unbalanced in my opinion.
