Struggling to contain my worry! Need to see some positive movements soon or I might have to do something useful like go to the gym or make some lunch..

I thought Dier had a very good game v Everton. If he can pick up the basics and improve a bit on his decision-making, then he could save us a lot of heartache. And Bentaleb is ok when he doesn't lose concentration. Priority has to be HK backup for me.

Pretty much this.

For me, a defensive midfielder is in the would be nice catagory, a striker though has to be a priority

Well shit, that will only buy us one of Berahino and Witsel.
How much do you think we will be paying like?? and as @Rob said very very rare do fee's such as for those two be big lump sums unless the player is a world wide known player i.e messi and even that would mean it would be performance based dude come on use the noggin!!

Overdraft confirmed by the Goat.

From The Goat: We've just had it confirmed that we have in place our regular deadline day overdraft of around £40m.
Ding!!! My favourite moment of every window, never fails to amuse me

David, they are not strikers. They are wide players who can play there- just like Chadli. By your logic, Chadli is a striker as well.
Poch seemed to allude to this though - but we're clearly still in for an out-and-out CF (in Berahino for instance)

Which is exactly what a one striker system like ours where there is already a strong first choice needs.

Arsenal, ManU and Chelsea are pretty much operating in similar circumstances.

It's incredibly rare, not to mention extremely costly to have top quality back up strikers sitting around twiddling their thumbs.
Arsenal have 2 strikers, United will have 2, Chelsea have 3. Not comparable circumstances at all.

woohoo overdraft activated.

I can imagine levy's accountant knocking on his door... "Daniel the overdraft, it has been activated"
*Levy rocks back in chair, evil grin appears*
"

We have sold Capoue, Stambouli and Paulinho. Alli and Dier will probably do a better job, Winks also possibly as Paulinho offered nothing. It is far from ideal and it would annoy me if we were not to address it, but it's hardly a disaster of a window overall if you consider that we've strengthened the defence and hopefully will have signed two proven attacking players as well as the promising Njie.

Alli is not a defensive midfielder tho .. Dier has been doing very well, but we can't rely on him in FOUR competitions, I agree that the defensive areas have strengthened, but we have gone into the last day of the window with 1 Striker and 1 DM.

Whether those positions get addressed remains to be seen, but we will be asking an awful lot of young players if we don't.

It makes sense from the club's perspective to drag out the Berahino deal to close to the deadline. That way fans will be blinded by the euphoria of signing SB and forget about the failure to secure a central midfielder. If we sign him at 12, people will expect a midfielder between 12 and 6.

Fuck I'm overthinking this aren't I.

I hope the overdraft facility is not with HSBC or NatWest, they've both had payment glitches this week :~\

Not picking on your opinion, it's just I was thinking about the possible autopsy results once the window has closed.

1. We sign no-one. Mass hysteria.

2. We sign Berahino. Meh, was expecting it anyway. He's not that good anyway.

3. We sign SB and Witsel. General feeling of success, with the typical few bemoaning that it's not Modric.

4. We sign Messi. Mass hysteria.

We want to eventually be in the Champions League, I would have preferred some one with a bit more experience. I think we need that to support Kane, someone has seen it and done it. I don't believe Berahino is that man. I would suggest even Berbatov who is looking for work on a free.

So OK, assembling what I already thought with what other people have reminded me about: we already have Dier, Veljkovic and Bentaleb (when he's in the right mood) as defensive midfielders. We already have Kane, N'jie and Son as strikers-or-thereabouts. We've signed three defenders. We've kept our two in-demand players.

Never mind, keep panicking. It's a failure! Everyone else has strengthened! We need to spend £40m today!
