Pretty obvious that all at spurs ( and I hope poch) consider son a striker. So as far as they are concerned with Ade we have 3 international strikers on the books. We have also added a goal scoring winger with pace and still have lemella and Townsend that could come good this year.
So maybe they think they have it sorted.
I think they are wrong by the way

A decent window overall. Kept our best players, added much needed pace to our attack and strengthened the defence. Disappointing that we didn't sign a defensive mid or back up striker but I would rather sign no one at all than sign substandard back ups or pay massively over the odds for average players.

With regards to the striker issue both Son and Njie are strikers who have pace so have been pushed out wide so we do have options to rotate with Kane.

Thank you for a reasoned response to the window. I completely agree.

If I was Poch I would walk. He said it was obvious we needed a striker. I would be f img furious and wouldn't blame him if he just a walked. Levy is a complete tool
Absolutely ridiculous from any point of view. What sort of character walks away when some things don't go as they want? Spolit kids that take their ball home when they're losing. It would be bad for him, his career, the club, the players and the rest of the management team.
Real winners cope with this sort of shit and come out on top. He's a football coach/manager not some sort of prima donna. I would fully expect Levy to make some sort of private apology about fucking up the Berahino deal but "walk away" - no chance.

It's not.

With all due respect to them all we never hear from them for a good while after the window closes

I can't say I blame them. There's bound to be a few idiots on here that will take a pop at them. I think I've seen one already.

Saying that I'm pretty confident that Trix and JJ will appear by the end of the night and give us an update.

I was pissed off earlier but having stepped back I think we've got some quality players obviously light up front but there must be a plan for Europa and carling cup games to rest Harry or he will burn out, njie, son and possibly Chadli will have to fill in for those games, we basically played last season with one up front anyway as the other 2 were fuck all use to us, we are clearly building for the future and that may come at a price, frustrating but this looks like how it's gonna pan out for the foreseeable!
Firstly, 'filling in' is wholly unacceptable. It makes us out to be a joke of a club. 'Building for the future'. Let me say this, when the big offers come in for Hugo, Bentaleb, Kane et al, they're gone. We were building for the future with Bale, Modric, etc.

He won't get the time, not because of Levy though.

Because of us the Spurs support, we have a culture, we have expectations about the football we play.

Poch doesn't fit.

We all hide behind Levy and blame him for being trigger happy, but apart from 1 (Jol) we hounded out the managers.

That's what has happened for a long time, and we never see a plan through.

I have confidence in Poch, that I haven't had in a Manager before for some reason, I think he has a definitive plan and if we fail to give him the time to do it, then we will start the merry go round again and again and again.

10 years ago going to the lane was amazing and the atmosphere too, it seemed unconditional as we all know what the football was like and didn't deserve it

Now we are too nervy and too quick to turn and it really frustrates me and does impact the players on the pitch, will this change? I hope so, but doubt it

I think we are seriously skint, I can't explain this window otherwise. Obviously the funding new stadium is effecting our spending to a much larger extent than Levy wants to let on.
Seriously.. our owner is a billionar who sits on a yacht in a tax haven.. he doesn't love this club like we do & he sure as hell doesn't want what's best for the fans or the club.. he has built a training complex & future stadium with borrowed money & once stadium is done he will sell for a massive profit.. Enic = investment firm

All I know is that @Trix neg repped me a few days back when I question Levy's approach and told me "lessons have been learned". So, I don't know what to think anymore. Have the lessons be learned? If I say that I don't think Levy has learned lessons will the mods regard that as a criticism of Trix?

I don't know. What I do feel though is that Levy is taking the piss. I think he is hiding behind the good financials, training ground and stadium deal and, as a result, can phone it in for a few years until the club is either sold or can get a large cash intake. I think that is disrespectful to the fans....and particularly to regularly paying fans like myself.

Not trying to criticise Trix, rather just angry at Levy. Hope the mods can maybe just allow this one off post of grumbling now that the window is shut.

Yeah, hiding behind the good financials, the training ground, the stadium deal, the early transfers, the selling of the deadwood at a loss.

BUT NO BACKUP STRIKER!! ;)

I'm teasing, but you get my point right?

Agree. Will be interesting to see how Son lines up for us and what N'jie can bring to the party. It is slightly disappointing not to get another front man but I won't cry about it.

He's got no-one to keep him on his toes.

Not saying he's going to be out of form all season but hardly started well and he can play how he wants knowing he won't have any threat to his place.

Competition for places is vital
He's hardly Adebayor though, is he? I reckon that one thing he will always do is put in 100% effort.

Although I'm disappointed at not addressing the clear problems we now face at least until Jan. When I stop shouting and breath again, I will see a leaner, younger more exciting squad than last season, with some potential young superstars in the frame (and not only there to keep the bench warm).
DGMW I'm pretty far from happy. But there are things to capture my attention for the next few months.

Note to Levy. Please leave and shut the door quietly behind you. The games up now.:(

I think Levy deserves all the criticism which will come his way. He has to learn that deal making is about human relationships, and yes those messy feelings he doesn't really like too. Deals are about more than just pounds and pence.

Worse than that though he's failed even by his own measure, because I think we couldn't get it across the line because Levy let his emotion get the better of him. When you gamble and wait this late you have to accept that sometimes you lose ; then what do you do? You swallow your pride is what, accept you lost and pay the surcharge. Levy couldn't, so he failed.

Or rather he doubled down on his gamble, betting the season on a side with obvious weak points and in a league where the middle and lower level clubs are stronger than ever. Perhaps he'll win that gamble, but it's reckless, irrational, and weak from Levy. All the things he prides himself that he's not!

Totally agree Sloth.

I'm normally very pro Levy, but people can sugar coat it as much as they like but it doesn't take away from the fact that we're taking a huge gamble in not signing another forward.

If Harry Kane picks up any kind of serious injury it will certainly become a clearer reality for some.

Say the sentence again, but this time imagine the football club is a business (which it is).

He doesn't want what's best for the business but he'll sell it for a massive profit. But how do you do that if you don't get the best out of your business?

The performance of the football club can't be anything but inextricably linked to the value it ultimately yields.

And we'll have a maturing squad, great training facilities a new stadium and a flush new owner so it's all good.

Footballs turned to shit the last 5 years, so I'm not really bothered anymore. I've fallen out of love with it. The money side has ruined it and it will go pop soon enough. Then fuck the likes of Ade etc...

By the way, for those saying our new scouting system is useless we were trying hard to sign Martial way before Man Utd became seriously interested.
