Where's that stat which shows Chadli could have been top goal scorer of about 6/7 prem teams last season? One of those being Liverpool.

People need to calm down. I bet Kane gives zero fucks about getting to be the main striker. There is no pressure at all.

Should have announced njie today and everyone would be delighted.

Son isn't a striker at all. Great signing, but the idea of him trying to settle in whilst playing out of position makes me want to punch myself in the face (again).
N'Jie is too lightweight to play ST in the PL, he's a second striker at best.
Chadli is only one I could see maybe working, think he's gonna have to start at CF in Europa.
Idea of playing Kane in all comps is disgusting.
Son is a striker and a wide forward as he constantly plays as a striker for south Korea

Well there's a big difference playing as a ST in the PL than for South Korea.
Pretty sure he played along side a big guy at World Cup too.
Maybe if came to it we could shift our formation, play Chadli and him up front with Eriksen behind.

What's this about signing berbatov or any other free striker? When does the window for that close?

Probably at midnight when squad registration has to be in,unless we have fewer than 25 players to register (open spaces can be filled whenever. See: Pires to Villa)

Bear in mind players have to be registered if they're eligible too, so we can't just not register Ade or Lennon to keep space open.

Personally I'd go with Chadli and Son together to mix things up, think they'd do pretty well together.

I think Dembele could do it.

He was a striker wasn't he, he holds the ball up as well as anyone.

That he's not been one for a while despite being a unit with great control should probably inform how good he was at it....

The u21's last season quite regularly played with a false nine - it worked pretty well but needs flexible players and you have to keep the ball but that is something we actually do well as a side on the whole

I think and though I was very hopeful about Berahino he would most likely have ended up working out wide as Poch really hasn't incorporated two forwards since he has been here. The lad from Germany is from what I have seen a very useful player and the French lad is touted to be decnt. I think one of the questions is that Poch himself will need to be more flexible in his tactics for us to be able to move forward - but as we never really seemed to be interested in any real cover for Kane during the window perhaps that's something he is prepared to do

Chadli can just be converted now to playing in the central role. If its worked on in training and tried from the start in matches (Europa to start with), rather than just sticking him up there out of the blue in games where we are under the cosh and falling apart (see the Stoke game) then I think he can do alright. He's what, 6ft 3, he can head a ball, he can hold it up, shoot, two footed, he can run in behind, and we know he scores goals. Work on the training ground needs to be done.

We have Eriksen, Son, N'Jie, Lamela, Townsend, Dembele, Carroll and Pritchard, plus Alli and Onomah also, who can then compete for the attacking midfielder roles. Son and N'Jie could probably be tried out centrally also, these are what the cup/Europa games should also be used to find out what our options are.

If there's enough room in the squad then I think the bullet has to be bitten and Adebayor is named also, even if its just to fill in for Europa/Cup games until Xmas.

I'm more worried about our failure to sign a central midfielder, and how we seemingly prioritised that less, I think our potential options there are a lot more scarce.

Quite agree except the bit about Adebayor and prioritising a midfielder. Leech must be kept well away from the rest of the players. Midfielder was a nice to have. Not a priority. Would you have said the same if we had converted any of those chances against ManU and Everton ? And gone 3-0 up against Stoke. No we'd have said professional job done, despite their inexperience

A player who is a 'free agent' can be signed at any time during a season. Usually any ones who are any good get signed close to the end of a TW for obvious reasons

Yes I would have. The first thing I said we needed this summer was a midfield anchorman to come in who would be the most intelligent player in our side. In fact I've been hoping that Utd didnt want him and that we could tempt Carrick back since last Autumn.

I feel so sorry for Kane now. He will be under such enormous pressure. I fear we are going to ruin him.

Weren't there rumours that Levy wanted to re-sign him and Sherwood vetoed it? Or was it the other way around?

Yes, Ley offered,

Sherwood wanted (rightly in my view) to try out Adebayor/Soldado as a combo to try to rehabilitate the one and get the other scoring (so 50% right) and to give Kane a PL run out neither of which h could do if Berba came back.

When dembele began at Fulham he was a striker and destroyed us with two goal sin a 4-0 fa cup game. He looked good there, and even behind a forward.

AVB ruined him playing him deep
