Striker options

Poch will need to change formation when Kane doesn't play as we simply don't have anyone to play the lone striker role. Our squad is more suited to a 4-3-3 with 3 interchanging front players, dare I say it like a poor man's Barcelona (I know, I know we don't have Messi, Suarez and Neymar).

So, now this clusterfuck of a window is over, how do we approach this situation then?

-Do we play Kane in every game?
-Do we use Chadli in less important games?
-Do we use Son?
-Do we use Clinton?
-Do we use a false 9?
-Do we look at our U21 strikers?
-Do we bring back Adebayor?
-Dier anyone?

Would be interested to know people's views on what we should do and how we should approach the season with regards to strikers and team selection.

Oh it's mr negative again from the transfer forum. Here's something so you can get some perspective. Both of our players who can play as strikers were signed cheaper than Martial alone and have comparable if not better stats.

I actually would like Berbs back.
We spend a lot of our time in possession and with a high line. Teams often sit deep against us. Berbs is all about movement, a clever brain and is able to link up with other players with a little vision and creativity which would help in congested areas.

Furthermore, even if we went 4-3-3, I'm sure he'd like having the raw pace of Son and N'Jie either side, particularly with N'Jie's calmness and unselfishness in assisting that he seems to possess from the little I've seen.

He would definitely have his uses as a rotational guy for Europe/cups the odd PL game and no doubt be a good sub to bring on in those as well when we are pushing for a goal.

Poch doesn't do plan B, that is obvious. He is going to find himself out of a job very soon, I assure you.

The only thing more shocking than us not signing a striker before the deadline would be us passing on a player who is free and knows the club and league already. Was playing in the CL last year and although he is clearly not the player he once was or a player that fits Poch's "system", having a seasoned STRIKER like Berba in those EL trips to give Kane a rest will imo be crucial.

It's a sad state of affairs when we are talking about Carlton Cole,Leon Best or even Bebatove to solve a problem that should never have happened. I think it shows a lack of ambition by the club and specifically Levy. I wonder what pearls of wisdom the club will come out with if we finish middle table at best. It's another manager that the club haven't backed and could end up fired at the end of the season even though they have tied his hands behind his back.

N'jie is more of a striker than a wide man I think - my guess is he'll start as a striker in Europa league games - he started more game for Lyon as a striker apparently and, from watching his youtube videos, he looks a little too one footed to play instead of Chadli on the left (he's right footed). And there's Son of course. I honestly think we'll be perfectly fine and have plenty of options.

Spot on. For me it's how you define a striker. I'd describe Son, N'jie and Chadli all as forwards. I'd even put Lamela in that category. Was surprised to hear Pochettino say we play with two strikers in Chadli and Kane, but if that's the case we are fine. We have enough options.

Son isn't a striker at all. Great signing, but the idea of him trying to settle in whilst playing out of position makes me want to punch myself in the face (again).
N'Jie is too lightweight to play ST in the PL, he's a second striker at best.
Chadli is only one I could see maybe working, think he's gonna have to start at CF in Europa.
Idea of playing Kane in all comps is disgusting.

Where's that stat which shows Chadli could have been top goal scorer of about 6/7 prem teams last season? One of those being Liverpool.

People need to calm down. I bet Kane gives zero fucks about getting to be the main striker. There is no pressure at all.

So you accept we have options but you don't like them. You would have liked heavyweight berahino I presume?
