What makes me laugh is, we are all arguing over who is better at cm as competition is so strong there! Without Bentaleb too! Wind back to deadline day when we all melted we didn't get a CM!

Son's match fitness is why I would prefer Lamela over him for the derby. Also, Son will be a great 60/70 minute sub against tired legs.
No way will poch drop lamella, and son was visibly not fit enough yesterday so won't be Saturday. We have West Ham and Chelsea he can get ready for

To be fair, although we had seen that Dier seemed to be playing DM in pre-season and then in the first couple of games before the end of the TW, I don't think most of us thought he would play there permanently nor improve so quickly into that role such that he looks as good or better than more of he names bandied about as potential transfer targets (plus some of them would have taken time to acclimatise to the PL).

And whilst @Trix assured us that Alli was 'wowing' the rest of the squad in training, I took it with a healthy dose of salt, whereas if anything @Trix was understating Alli's abilities and rapid maturing into a PL player.

So whereas last season we were overly dependent upon a CM 2 of Mason and Bentaleb, without noticing it, we suddenly found ourselves with 4 very good CM's - and even young/fringe players such as Carroll, Onomah and Winks....and even Dembele has forced himself back into the reckoning.

Astonishing turnabout though in retrospect

I am sure we will go with same XI. Davies Vs Rose - Personally I prefer Davies. Going forward, he links the play well and has far better end product than Rose. Having said that, at their best, Rose is more potent than Davies.

Son isnt match fit yet, its better to have him in subs for the game. I am sure we will need him some time in the game.

My XI

Lloris
Walker, Toby, Jan, Davies
Dier , Alli, Dembele
Lamela, Kane, Eriksen

I like Mason - but feel Alli has done enough over the last 2 months two keep his spot.

Just looking through the thread and it's pretty much unanimous on the back 5. How often have we had that over the years?? Good to see!!

Lloris

Walker
Toby
Verts
Rose

Mason
Dier
Dembele

Lamela
Kane
Eriksen

Don't think we have any chance of it happening but would love a 4-3-3. Poch will play his usual formation. Probably correct line-up tho

Have Clinton & Ali coming on for last 20?

Lloris

Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Davies

Dier Mason

Lamela Dembele Eriksen

Kane
Subs: Vorm, Trippier, Rose, Wimmer, Alli, Clinton, Son

Mason in for Alli who I think has looked like he needs a rest the last week. Nice to have some decent options to come off the bench now as well

Should stick with the winning formula. Alli would do well with big game experience early in his tottenham career IMO.
Team results are more important at this stage than personnel development. Play Alli if he is the best choice not only to give experience. Based on your logic might as well play Onomah as well

You need goals to win games so I think we need to get as many of our goalscorers playing as possible. Dembele, Alli, Eriksen, Kane should all start. Son if fit enough too.
Lloris
Walker Alderweirald Vertonghen Rose
Dier Alli
Son Dembele Eriksen
Kane

It will be Lamela ahead of Son probably, with those two swapped after an hour. Alli and Demeble could start in either position andwill likely rotate during the game. Lamela if he starts may move left allowing Eriksen to come inside and play his best position as a No10.

we are in a very good position going into this. Had a tough test during the week where the defence was tgiven a good workout, can only be a good think. Kane has scored two cracking goals in a few days, two top drawer finishes and goes into the game high on confidence. Dont think we could be better placed going into the game. Arsenal however are playing some superb football, scoring goals for fun, and will fancy their chances. I'd settle for a draw but we have a great chance of winning this one.

Then why exclude Lamela? Or doesnt his goals count? He is fitter and has scored more PL goals than Son IIR

Err drop the player with 4 goals and 3 assists which is more than Eriksen, Dembele, Son and Alli.
Great logic, fancy explaining it because I'm not seeing it.

I'm expecting a typical Tottenham performance tomorrow, hope this is a new Spurs but I've seen too many false dawns.

Nah, Alli looked mentally tired on Thursday, which is no surprise given the steep learning curve he has been on so far this season, so I'd rest him tomorrow and have him on the bench.
