NJie's injury (that's the most fun bad news phrase to say out loud) could possibly change how we operate, depending on the severity of course.

This will or should definitely force the hands of the management that we do not have the luxury not bringing in a striker in January, IF! If you believe MP we cannot get who we want.

Having no back up to berahino is suicide if you ask me. It will put us in the same position as in the summer transfer window. I'm very sceptical we will manage to get our number one target so we should have a second. If we don't we will finish outside the top places when they are so close to our grasp.

Maybe we can talk about net spends to pass the time? I'm so into those discussions and often feel they're more important than anything else that's discussed in the itk thread. But hey that's how I roll...
Will we make a profit, or not!? These questions overtake me to the degree that the teams performance is second in my mind. I'm so glad that there's so many others on here that feel the same. Thanks guys....

Surely we have to be an attractive option for our targets. Even more attractive if we can right the ship and move into the top 4 before the transfer window opens. Our targets can't ignore a chance to help our squad into the CL.

But I remain unconvinced anyone wants to sell in January.

Exactly. This is what people continue to miss here when throwing out numbers wrt Berahino. His value will not have gone down much, if at all. Staying up is worth 60m+ now. Going up to around 100m in a year or 2. Plus, im not sure the exact rules on this as his birthday is in August, but he'll still be 23 at the beginning of next summer, meaning WBA might still get the developmental money when he signs elsewhere, which is likely to be around £15m since Ings cost Liverpool around £12 thanks to Levy offering that amount at the last possible minute to Burnley.
Danny Ings is said (massive rumour) to be costing Liverpool in the region of £10m when it's finally agreed. WBA could expect to receive that also for Berahino, although we will undoubtably argue about game time etc. Therefore I just can't see how we would pick him up for the £10m that some are suggesting. £15m, well probably and then shove some add ons if he performs? Kind of remember though the 'Sturridge is he good enough or not' sort of argument on places before he signed for the Scousers. A fit Sturridge is certainly good enough - let's hope Berahino would be also. He's waiting for us and we for him.
Was thinking same thing re: transfer tribunal(?) etc. But it turns out that the training academy is compensated for players under 24 that have spent X amount of years there. Was concerned Berahino would qualify even if he ran down his contract. However, he turns 24 in early August 2017 (the 4th iirc). So my assumption is if he does not sign a contract prior to that day then WBA is screwed.

Just a quick one to share. I live in York and was on my works Xmas do in la Tasca when Kenny McEvoy (& his lovely wife) walked in. Had a chat and took a pic as usual. He said Poch is keen for players to get experience and he keeps in touch with those out on loan. Only piece of transfer related info was he reckons shaq will be joining Wigan on a perm but didn't know anything else. He said there is a real buzz at the club at the moment. Obviously passed on in good faith, it's not much but thought it was worth sharing. Kenny seems a nice lad who obviously was excited to be recognised!! He looks less like Bale now

Hey @razzmaster just wondering about your "disagree". Was I mistaken in my simple relaying of information that I looked up? Is it wrong and hence you disagree? If it is incorrect and you happen to have more accurate info I for one would be happy to read it. Just wondering as it seems a rather mild post for such a reaction. Odd.

And also Dier is dead on his feet due to playing every single game so why not sign an additional player that not only keeps Dier on his toes but give us strength in depth in a critical position.
We do have Dembele, Alli, Mason, Bentaleb, Carroll, Onomah, Winks who all also play in midfield

I think Dembele clicking with the team has made another midfielder unlikely.

I can sorta see why we looked at Witsel is we thought he might not stick around, but right now I'd be happy to stick to the development of youth... actually Mason and Carroll ain't that young. If Carroll is ever going to make it he needs to take his chance this year

Think we looked at Witsel because we didn't know how Dier would shape up.

Wishlisting: The suggesting of players about whom we've had absolutely no ITK.

Putting aside the fact that nobody cares, it really isn't what this thread is for.

Dier was a gamble as DM and it worked. He was played there in pre-season and took his chance. If we had bought Witsel then he would have played cup games as DM or CD. Benteleb being injured means he hasn't had much of a break.

Then you have Dembele, Mason , Benteleb, Alli and Carroll

Erikson, Lamela, N'jie, Son

all of which are or need to be established players

Then there is Onomah, Winks and Pritchard knocking on the door.

That's a lot of players and if you want to see anything from them then they need game time. This is the future for this club and It will not work smoothly all the time. We have put a lot of money and resource into developing out youth system and we need to implement it otherwise its simply an expensive waste of time (Chelsea?)

There is no other player in the squad like Kane and I still think we are looking but we have and could play without him. It's a different system but we do have the players to do it....again, it won't always work as our players are very young.

If we buy in 2 players who are we going to sell and who are you suggesting looses game opportunities?

Was dier a gamble or does poch know more about these players than we do? Dier started out as a dm. Son has played cf on his own before. Maybe just maybe poch knows exactly what he's doing and the club isn't a shambles some of us like to think it is.

The budget is tight. It will be until they stadium is built. Not aimed at you mckenz just general.

Last time you said that to me you had my balls in your hand. That was the day I found out you're not a real Doctor.
Got to question why you let Dr Ballbag see you in the first place. He is still called Dr Ballbag isn't he?

Budget is not as tight as we might think, we still have equitity in player like Fazio, Townsend, plus youth players, our wage bill is prob a hell of a lot lower. Also we have an academy which is producing talent so it's likely we can cash in on some squad players. Realistically we prob can make the odd purchase, but you right we do have a Jewish chairman with a 1st in biz at Cambridge you don't get much more shrewed.

I don't think we need to spend big just get a exp or young striker who can do a job with either exp or potential, who can fill in.

Can't totally rely on that wage bill being lower as we're also handing out several raises and new contracts to players like Kane last year, while the likes of Vertonghen, Eriksen, Chadli, Lamela, etc. are going to need new deals soon as well.

Onomahs went from £850 to £16k. Bentalebs went up by about £60k if the rumours are correct.

Or I simply clicked on disagree by mistake as I scrolled through on my smartphone. I do appreciate your post though if just for the irony of accusing me of over reacting. I will find your original post and remove the rating so we can get this thread back on track.
