Good to hear that we won't settle for stopgaps, but you have to wonder how long we've had that mindset. Stambouli and Fazio were most definitely stopgaps at the time, so it must've been decided after they came in and disappointed.

New ITK then. No stopgaps. Good.
Read the ITK! They obviously know what they are doing, but how long can we maintain stances like that? I agree not to pay ridiculous amounts for targets. We should then know this in advance and maybe the reason why we are signing the likes of MD2.

All but confirming nothing will happen! Have to go through the entire summer waiting for a striker again for ot not to happen! Lost count how many times we've sat here this close to the window closing needing a striker

That's not good if true. If we can't find someone we want, a stop gap is exactly what we need for 3 months. We've come undone so many times over the last few seasons for not getting January reinforcements and this year more than ever we should be. Still, I trust Poch, I just don't trust us not to get any major injuries.

To be fair we are further down the road building our squad now.
I guess the ITK means Poch won't take players he doesn't want.

Poch doesn't do stop-gaps. And stop-gaps were exactly what we got in January 2012 and that was very unpopular, wasn't it?

I'm pleased to hear that we won't go for stopgaps but are many players really signed to be stopgaps?
An older player might be in a sense but they'd be more likely signed to add experience etc.
Some players might not work out but surely very few are signed as stopgaps.
Stopfaps, maybe.

Fighting on 3 fronts with one out and out striker is embarrassing. Still I'm sure we'll put it right sometime...

I can see it now. Last game of the season. Tottenham need a point to win the League. Harry Kane injured in the Southampton game. Berahino scores the 95th minute winning goal for... Newcastle.

No stop gaps would be fine if we had 2 strikers. But we dont have 2 strikers. We have 1. And that 1 striker has been worked to death for the past year and a half. I think i'd rather have a stop gap recognized striker than an AM masquerading as the lone striker. Especially when we are in 3 competitions.

But oh well. What can you do. I didnt think we'd sign anyone this window anyway. It is typical of Spurs to not address obvious needs. Sadly, it isnt just top 4 we have a chance at right now. Its the title we have a shot at. Very disheartening to see obvious needs go unmet.

Levys allergic to Strikers! 6 month Saha deal looks magic now! Atleast that kind of deal would have been able to support Kane for 6 months until we maybe attempt to get our proper targets
