Messi is Messi and he's not the hardest worker in the team - no where near the workrate of a Kane.
I quoted 3 people in that so unsure why you chose to speak about Messi? How about Suarez who's also known for his workrate?

Everyone would like a striker but this re-writing of Saturdays match to fit your agenda has to stop - Kane didn't play because we had no options - both Chadli and Son have could have easily as started and they have in other cup matches. He played because Poch felt he was fit enough and maybe he actually wanted to play. Messi plays pretty much every match for Barcelona, not because they don't have sufficient back-up but because he loves playing football.

Bit dramatic. I never said that Kane was knackered and needed then rest, merely that I would prefer if we were in a postion to not play him. If you believe they if we have a back up striker Kane would have still played that's fine.

Like a moth to the flame we are all drawn here from far and wide. Hitting the refresh button like it will miraculously reveal to us that we have signed somebody (anybody?). Our heads say it's possible but we know it's not probable. But fk it we keep coming back meanwhile the big wigs at the club are probably chilling lol... that said, you never know...

You could have son Chadli and Kane starting games together very soon. Who then do you play in FA cup an Europa? Who do you bring on to get a goal late in a game? By playing all 3 you have a much greater chance of an injury to one of them. It's like saying Deeney is back up to Igahlo at Watford. But he isn't because both play at the same time.

So we have to buy someone and not play them in case they get an injury just put them in cotton wool until needed, or we can play our strongest team when needed and if one of those three need a rest or get injured shuffle the pack a bit as and when needed. We have enough forward players that can help out. Deeney is back up to igahlo as he will score goals and they will have someone else come into the team as well. Its called having a squad but playing your strongest team.

It doesn't need saying but I agree with everyone else, ideally we would have another striker, but where I differ is I don't think it will be the end of the world and I will not be going to burn the baldy on a massive great fire before jumping off a bridge if it doesn't happen.

To dare is to spend? I'm tired of this argument.

What about daring to trust the players we already have? Daring to trust in youth? Daring to trust Pochettino's judgement?
There's also another saying can you guess the ending; If it ain't broke...

A. Think about how bad you'll feel when it does break and ruins your life.
B. Fix it anyway, you'll make it even better.
C. Don't fix it.
D. Call Jimmy Saville*

* D may have retired from the fixing business. :cautious:

Tbf there is slightly more chance of a top level sportsman picking up a sporting injury than your Auntie growing testicles.
Have to disagree, we were out with the family one weekend and decided that we should race back to the car... my auntie fell over, we all feared the worst as it was quite a nasty fall on gravel, and when she got up she was not injured but her skirt had slid down and her tights torn, and a single bollock was poking out from her undercrackers. I promise it was not there before that day.

I must admit I find it hard to believe there isn't a player out there that fits the requirements of what we are looking for. We should be able to rest Kane against the likes of Colchester and it's disappointing we can't. I think generally we have a good squad but the lack of back up is a weakness.

Not just that but Kane played his best when he had to fight Ade and Soldado for a start. We could do with keeping him on his toes a little.

IMO we could have rested Kane against Colchester and still come away victorious, but MP chose not too, and I would say that Kane probably wated to play too.

Yes there is an argument in getting backup for Kane but to what level?

We sign Berahino, so what games do we rest Kane for? there are no easy games in the PL anymore and we want to win every trophy so what is the point in playing a weakened side just in case?

Also we spend £20m+ for potential backup and he starts upsetting the mood in the squad as he is not playing or is dropped to U21's (Thownsend)

I would like to see a backup striker but I have faith in MP and if he is happy then so am I.

I think its a safe bet that no-one will come in today it looks like the manager and board are happy with what we have, come the end of the season will tell us if we were right or wrong.

I agree and I'm certainly a strong believer in all Poch is doing and if we don't sign a striker you won't see any posts from me jerking my knee, it would just be nice to not have to worry every time Kane hits the deck.

Poor old Jim is going to look very silly on SSN tonight as absolutely nothing happens.

I think it may be time for the yellow tie to be retired.

As long as there's some bit of crumpet wearing a tight dress sat alongside him, we will all be watching anyway!

All these cleverly constructed posts on how we really don't need a striker will go up in smoke if kane gets a knock.

It may do if Son & Chadli get injured, or if Kane goes the next 15 games without scoring.

Alternatively, Kane stays fit, and if he doesn't then Son & Chadli take the mantle and we might just win the league.
