A few of the players who played at Colchester are definitely back up players only. I'm not so sure we can compete on three fronts having to rotate those players in.

I'm talking Bentaleb (erratic) Carroll (need 93 good minutes not 48) Trippier (needs defensive coaching), Vorm of course, Davies and even Lamela is inconsistent.
Instead of those back-up players, which back-up players should Poch use, for back-up. Presumably we need to buy in back-up players? In your opinion.

I'm saying I don't think we can be competitive on three fronts because our rotatation players are below par imo.

Rubbish, our squad is fine which is why we are currently competing for 3 trophies, we have one of the strongest squads in the league.

What I'd like to see:
Lloris

Trippier Alderweireld Wimmer Rose

Alli Dier Bentaleb

Dembele Kane Eriksen

What I'd like if we have to play 4231:
Lloris

Trippier Alderweireld Wimmer Rose

Dier Bentaleb

Dembele Eriksen Son

Kane
What I'm expecting:

Lloris

Walker Alderweireld Wimmer Rose

Dier Dembele

Son Alli Eriksen

Kane

So in a 4231 formation you'd drop Alli for Bentaleb? Still?

Suspect Walker will play ahead of Trippier, but other than that I suspect this is the team we'll see and I can't see much wrong with it really.

The notable players left out are Lamela and Chadli, with the latter being very unlucky to not be in the team, and the former at risk of really dropping down the pecking order at the moment.

We have won nothing yet. It would be best if Fiorentina knock us out of EL.

We can finish top 4 and to do that we would be better to be off out of EL.

That is a defeatist attitude, bottom line is you or I do not know what is going to happen this season from here on it but to sack off a competition so that we can push on in another is small time thinking and totslly negates the reason of having a deep squad.

Look at the text in your avatar, and then re-read what you've just posted.

................Lloris
Walker Toby Wimmer Rose
............Dier Dembele
Lamela Alli Eriksen
................Kane
These are the eleven I think he will start but the shape is only a nominal one because we continually rotate the roles in the game

Can't see the avatar but surely it says "The game is about getting knocked out of one major competition so you can finish fourth in another"

That's the famous quote that springs to mind... :cautious:

Imo we do not realistically have a good enough squad for three competitions.

Yes. For the same reason I wouldn't play Yaya in ManC's 4231 most weeks - which is one of the reasons they are underachieving IMO - trying to accommodate their best individuals into a format that doesn't. The same reason I wouldn't have played Chadli for many games last season despite him being one of our more productive players.

I don't believe in making big compromises to the collective to accommodate the individual. Alli was largely very bad last week bar a moment of brilliance. He isn't going to produce that most weeks and we could easily have been losing that game last week before we won it. Most of what he produces offensively can be produced by others we have without the "bad" compromise in a 4231. He isn't a CM2 player - yet - and he isn't very good as an ALM or ACM for most of the time.

Now, in a 433 I'd have Yaya every week, and Alli would definitely be much more viable.

What Alli might lack in an accomplished all round game he more than makes up for with his instinct and attacking intent. In 21 league appearances he already has 6 goals. Mason, Bentaleb and Carroll between them have 4 goals in a combined league 105 appearances for us. Defenders will pay attention Alli, therefore paying less to Kane, Eriksen and Chadli. Alli makes off the ball runs into spaces that the others don't really. End result is already there, far as I'm concerned it makes him worth persisting with while he develops the rest.

I think deadline day has taken a lot of peoples eye off the ball here but we have a chance of making a real statement of intent tomorrow. If we can beat Norwich there is a high possibility of the other teams dropping points and we will then be in with a real shout of doing something really special this season.

Lose and although some people will act like its the end of the world the reality is that it isn't. Theres so many teams beating the so called big boys that from now until the end of the season I think it will be twists and turns until the very end.

I dream of the unthinkable but would happily settle for 3rd place if it were offered right now.

Lloris, Walker, Toby, Wimmer, Rose, Alli, Dembele, Son, Eriksen, Chadli, Kane

Vorm, Trippier, Dier, Davies, Bentaleb, Lamela, Onomah

guess we will see dier for son but dont know who should play on the right then.

I'd be tempted to put Alli beside Dier....and then Dembele/Eriksen/Chadli behind kane.

In fact, I've talked myself round into this line up:

Lloris

Walker
Toby
Wimmer
Rose

Dier
Alli

Dembele
Eriksen
Chadli

Kane

Subs: Vorm, Davies, Trippier, Bentaleb, Carroll, Lamela, Son
