If they win the Euro league 4th place in league doesn't get CL spot, right?
Sure it's been asked 1000 times so Apols in advance

Only if City win the CL too and also finish outside the top 4. So hopefully West Ham finish 4th and this happens.

Actually only they make it and the actual Top 4 are moved to the third tier of the Belgian League.

Only answering because I know absolutely no one reads these answers obviously.

Can't see why the disrespect for Liverpool, yeah I know we are doing better than them for the last 6 seasons but looking at our head to head for the last 10 seasons they have won 11 we have won 7. We have had some pretty spectacular defeats to them in recent years. Cue the spam and doh!

You obviously don't remember the pain we experienced 4 years ago.

I think what Liverpool have that we don't is Coutinho

I would swap many of their players for ours, but he has genuine magic in his feet, and that's the main thing that I think we're missing - an AM who can conjure something up out of nothing. Eriksen is our best in this regard, but generally (Palace goal aside from Alli) in AM we do miss that.

It's area we should look to address in the summer. If they get CL football and get Gotze, they'll be some prospect next year, which I'd rather didn't happen

Well people were saying that Dortmund were one of the best teams in Europe when they beat us, so have to hand it to Liverpool really. Some people say Liverpool have nothing to fight for but they still have 4th place to fight for. They win their game in hand they have 51 points just 6 points behind Man city while being in the semi finals of the Europa cup. Getting beat 5 - 1 by Dortmund is an embarassment, it makes us look small time compared to Liverpool.

Not really though. We didn't field a full strength team.

5-1 is an embarassing scoreline regardless of the team we put out, didnt their manager call us the 5th best team in Europe? we should be capable of going in more than one competition. Liverpool have been in the league cup final, they are now in the semis of the Europa cup and they going for fourth place. Despite their inconsistant league form, they are having a damn good season and I am definitely no lover of liverpool fc.

Doubt you'd get many Liverpool fans saying that they're having a damn good season, especially league wise, which is still king

I really think the Coutinho/Eriksen comparison favours Eriksen. Their goal/assist output is pretty similar but when you factor in all the other facets, I really don't think there is a case for preferring Coutinho.

I also think that Pritchard is a very similar player to Coutinho and given a proper chance would offer very similar qualities.

I'd happily swap Firminho for Son mind you, and I said this when they signed him and in this thread not so long ago before he was getting his chance recently under Klopp, but I really like Origi, think he would be a perfect alternative to Kane because of his all round game.

I dare say you're right but I dont think they would be ok with finishing 2nd to Leicester city either.

I can't believe Eriksen hasn't won the 'tackles won' battle. :cautious:

I dont think Liverpool are better than us but they are very good and posses similar qualities in terms of positivity.

We have Kane and Deli and Ericksson, they have some good attackers but we have Toby and Jan and Kevin and Kyle and Danny and Hugo and they dont.

Liverpool aren't on our level in terms of individual players, depth, academy, scouting, finances and fans. They're a glorified mid table club with good performances here and there. Having said that I think Klopp is a top top manager but we are a better club in almost every football element bar history :(

Got to hand it to Liverpool as we know Dortmund are a top side. However Barca went out of the Champions League last night so does that make Man City a better team?

Liverpool just showed us exactly how to play against Dortmund.

They also played very well against us at Anfield at the weekend.

Klopp seems to be really getting them in a good shape and he hasn't even bought any players yet!

Is Klopp a better manager than Potch or does he just know how to play against his old team and are they a better team than us tactically under Klopp?

Discuss...
Whenever someone posts "discuss" it makes me immediately think that it's a wind up post.

This is something that has been explained many times. I personally explain periodically in the Let's All Laugh at Liverpool thread.

It has nothing to do with them having something of an eclipse, falling behind us or having a few bad results.

it has everything to do with the fact that no matter how many times we finish above them or how well we play, they (in the round) persistently refuse to give us any credit whatsoever, but instead dismiss us, belittle us, refuse to acknowledge the huge strides we have made in youth development, infrastructural improvements, or the halving of the financial gap between them and us. Among the comments I have read from them, one, rather than give us any praise whatsoever, referred to us as a vile, vile club...for what I can't imagine (being well run, developing youth, etc.). They seem happy enough to accept Chelsea and Citeh being better than them - because they have been gifted huge amounts of dodgy oil-money, but they just will not accept us finishing above them six seasons out of seven might possibly just a little bit be down to us doing something right. On top of which, even their manager (Brentan) used us as whipping-boy currency before the event and then they fell flat on their faces. They point blank refused to blame a nasty bitey racist and instead used it to add to their cultivated victim culture.

I grew up during their seminal era of domination and never had anything but (grudging) respect for them and their achievements. Now, I think they deserve everything they get.

Maybe you should have a read through the above mentioned thread, where these things are dealt with at greater length - because they have been several others posters who have asked the question you have.
