I think it's harsh to blame Poch

I agree he has made and repeated mistakes with his tactics (mostly continuously taking off Lamela in a game where we require a creative killer final ball)

But the main problem has been the lack of depth in the squad and real options at his disposal

I can see why people would think it is harsh that I write off the likes of Mason, N'Jie and Chadli - I don't disagree with them per say

It's my opinion though, based on what I have seen of each player that they are not good enough for what we need right now and not going to be good enough for what we want moving forward. I feel we need to upgrade on all of them and bring in cover for Kane

All of our options for cover in these areas need to be able to fill in and do a job like Wimmer did when Verts was injured - I am not personally convinced N'jie, Chadli or Mason can do that nor that they will ever be able to

Yes it can be seen as harsh, but EPL football is cut throat and sometimes big decisions need to be made. People could say it was harsh on Townsend, Livermore, even Huddlestone or Marney/O'Hara for example.... but moving forward, in to the CL next year we need to have that level of quality depth in our set up and for me that requires us to significantly upgrade on N'Jie, Chadlie, one of Mason/Bentaleb in addition to bringing in cover for Kane

I think Chadli is ok as a squad player and Njie can`t be judged yet as he he played a handful of games and then was injured. Mason probably should be sold to Bournmouth...

Agree but expectations are allowed to change as the season unfolds so finishing behind arse would represent failure given we have only taken 2 points from last 9...
If that turned out to be the case it will be 2 points from 12. Just to cheer you up.....

2nd or 3rd, I don't really care. At the start of the season top 4 was the aim, which we've achieved.

Whatever happens in the last game, it's still been a really good season and one that the players will benefit from because of the experience.

The sun glasses are still needed as the future is still extremely bright.

Two possible positives
Couple of our boys may well have lost their England chance today and get a potential rest in off season
We will be under the radar again

That's second place gone then. After our result the Scum knew that a draw today would be enough. We'll lose to Newcastle and they'll walk all over Villa. I really thought we'd changed, but sure as night follows day, you know that good old Spurs will bottle it at the last.
Why does everybody think Newcastle are so great? They will probably be relegated.

I thought Kane was awful today but having only 1 striker isn't his fault.

I am not criticizing he seasonal play, just that he wasted a chance to put the game out of reach by not passing. It's not the first time and won't be the last. I am a big a fan as anybody of Kane but Poch really needs to work with him on this part of his game.

Disappointment is inevitable today.. But the team being criticised for not putting them to bed was an overstatement IMHO.. We tried, but teams like Soton, WBA, leicester etc, they really used 9 men in front of the keeper to defend their goal, leaving only one runner up front to take advantage of any balls they could have gotten running behind our CBs.. We have always had such difficulties facing such teams.. We played technically brilliant football, but we do need to be street smart too in winning certain games against such teams in the ugly way.. Possession and shots stats are fucking useless against such teams..

And I really wish Poch could have gotten the fullbacks to cross more and improve on the quality of them.. Nothing will pile more pressures into such tight lock teams other than crosses into the 18 yard box.. Practically any team will lapse once or twice in handling these crosses, and we at least have some outside chances of pouncing on those lapses..

I agree that it's something that Kane needs to work on, but like most things, it will be a delicate balancing act.

Most of the worlds best strikers, both now and in the past, were greedy bastards in front of goal.

We need to not start walker and mason if we hope to get something from our game against barcodes. Same starting lineup as today and we will not finish second. Unfortuantely I dont think Poch will drop those two. :(

Apart from everything else that's been said about the game today, I think a big factor in us losing, was because we had no Dembele or Alli. We missed them both hugely! Makes me worry about the first four games of next season, though hopefully we will strengthen the squad by then, but both players must accept responsibility in part at least, for our drop in form today.

If we don't get a point next week this will be more depressing end of season ever. Worse than Chelsea winning UCL.

It really won't. I'll be absolutely gutted and the Arsenal fans will be unbearable for a while, but once the dust has settled we will still be in the CL next season.

There is little chance of barcodes sitting back in the either scenario of needing points to stave relation or signing off the season with some dignity in front of their crowd.. Hope that plays into our strengths..
