We will see big fees being paid by a whole host of prem clubs this summer not just the usual suspects,

We saw the start of this with Everton paying over £20m on Lukaku, Stoke paying £18m on Imbula and I fully expect clubs like West Ham to be spending large sums on individuals

As much as I like what we're doing we can't solely rely on unearthing an Alli or Dier just like we can't expect every graduate from the academy to be able to play for a title challenging Tottenham.

I appreciate spending big money doesn't guarantee anything and we certainly don't have a very good track record when it comes to big money signings, but we must be competative in the market and that's going to cost pretty heavy lumps of change.
Combining good business for more established players with continuing to try unearth hidden gems will keep us competative.

It's also a big ask of young and inexperienced players to come in and compete at the level we are currently. Alli is an exception, not the norm.

Alder was the only first 11 signing we made last summer.

Similarly Leicester's only one was Kante.

We splashed a fair bit of money on Son in the summer and I have no doubts he was bought for the starting 11. Injury, form and the emergence of Alli obviously changed that.

Fuchs and Okazaki were both brought in this summer by Leicester too and pretty influential signings.

So very very true, West Ham have a solid side and with a few additions will be up with us and the same goes for Southampton and Liverpool,I think next season will be harder than ever to get into top 4 especially with champions league football but do I expect us to spend big............nope and this is because of previous Windows and the complete lack of spending!

I think our two main additions this summer will be Berahino and Wanyama.

Would be quite disappointing when Dendoncker would likely be cheaper and I feel is a much better fit for what we need. I wouldn't mind Wanyama, but I was personally hoping he would have developed more in regards to his passing and discipline, especially if we were to be considering him as an option.

I think Dendoncker picked up a knee injury recently, dislocation from memory. Not sure how serious this would be.

City, Liverpool and United spent huge sums last season and went backwards. Throwing vast sums at the market in the short terms does not automatically translate into success. What we need is a smart window like the one we had last summer and that does not necessarily mean high profile big money signings ( something we have a terrible record at).

Didn't say anything about signing 6 or 7 players. We need two or three quality additions.

Any player of his quality, English, with 1 year left on his contract will have Levy's balls tingling.
I suppose if he is available for a bargain it is possible

Are WBA not owed compensation in terms of a development fee though?

They turned down over 20m last year, if his fee had to go to a tribunal he'd probably still cost a fair chunk despite his contract situation

Plus I think he's had a poor season and we'd probably be questioning whether his skill suit fits the bill for what we need

Unless of course he will cost next to nothing because his contract is run down and there are no issues with development fees and tribunals

I still think we need significant changes in midfield, and it feels like a lot of that has gathered momentum due to recent weeks' performances. I understand Mason may be injured, but prior to that, Mason always kind of felt like the weaker of options in midfield. I think most would agree that Bentaleb staying/being sold is probably, at best, 50/50 at this point. And, as for Tommy Carroll, he's likely not good enough.

Mahmoud Dahoud is the player I'd want to see us add. I seriously think he's what we need, and I view him as a player that could push Dembele for his spot. We all want competition, and let's be honest, there's a huge lack of competition in central midfield. It's basically Dier/Dembele and then the rest. He's going to be expensive, but for good reason. He offers a rare combination of technical ability, positional awareness and overall polish for a player his age (20).

As mentioned previously, Leander Dendoncker is the other player that makes a lot of sense given he looks like a sort of Eric Dier clone.

If we're being completely objective, Carroll, Mason and Bentaleb have offered this squad very little this season (for varying reasons). It simply can't happen again next season, one in which I can only imagine the clubs around us will be much better, and the battle for Top 4 will likely be harder than ever. Our midfield (and striker options) is a big reason why I believe we fell short this season, in terms of winning the title. Dahoud and Dendoncker (and I'd recommend Winks being promoted) would be a great way to build for the future while also improving the immediate quality of our central midfield.

I know others, including some ITK, have mentioned no one's going to be actively shipped out, but if reasonable offers for Mason, Carroll and Bentaleb come in, I think you have to consider it at this point. The ceiling for Mason/Carroll just isn't high enough and Bentaleb looks like he's going to want a new opportunity elsewhere.

Not Poch's style at all.

Fazio (27) and Alder (26) are the only players older than 25 that he's ever signed.
At Southampton he only made 3 signings and one was -
Osvaldo - 27

Not to mention he would regularly play the very "old" Lambert who was 31, Fonte who was 29 and Davis 28

Then Espanyol he signed/played in his last two seasons:
Capdevila - 34
Simao - 32
Colotto - 31
Garcia - 27 - played under poch until he was 29/30(when poch left)
Pandiani - 35
Garcia - 31
Uche - 29
Romaric - 28 on loan

Then he played
Verdu - 29/30
and etc(cant be asked to look)

Neither did I, I said we need a smart window, one where the focus is about getting the right players in and not about how much they cost.

Has he had a good season this lad?

What kind of money do you think he'd go for?

Haven't seen much of him albeit YouTube vids where, like you say he looks like Dembele with passing ability.
