Not sure why you would leap to that assumption? Not saying that we should spend loads of energy looking for a LB, but if the option presented it self and was staring us down, then I'd be interested. I definitely think that the weakest FB in our squad is on the left side of the pitch.

I genuinely like your optimism. And I do understand what you are saying, it's still "only" June. I think we should take that as an opportunity and not rush into any secondary deal. In my personal view, there is no alternative option being talked about that I think we should be in a rush to get. So take a step back and rethink our possibilities for that striker option. I'm not on board with the "oh we are only looking for a back up anyway" rhetorics. Everybody knows that an incoming player gets the chance to prove him self. And I'm not saying it would be easy to give Kane proper competition, but it is certainly not impossible, he is only human. I'd rather pay more for a striker who fancy his chances than pay less for a striker who *wants* to sit on the bench. The latter type of player, in my mind, will not necessarily even be ready for first team PL footie in 2016. So we can potentially be paying millions of pounds to basically be stuck with status quo. Wouldn't it be ironic if we didn't spend X millions because that's so much money, but we spent X - Y millions only to see all CL matches come and go before the new, shiny striker even has started his first important match?

I don't think any one we are looking at will want to sit on the bench, but some may accept that until they earn and then take their chance the will. Others on the other hand expect to be the main man from the off which is the difference.

I'm not happy that we have missed out on bats. But if he did want 100 grand a week as has been quoted, that means he would be on more than Verts, Toby, Dembele and eriksen. Wouldn't be great for the morale of the rest of squad and they would be banging on levy's door wanting the same or more. We still have to juggle our finances until the stadium is done imo which is frustrating as we are seeing Liverpool, West Ham etc splash it around.

It was already suggested by the Times that 5 players have "highest earner" clauses, so bringing in someone on £100k per week would probably have seen each of those five get another £30k or so each. That's £150k per week increase PLUS £100k on Batshuayi - far too much for a backup striker.

I don't believe these top earner clauses are anywhere near as common as the media make out.

So you're disagreeing??
Funny, as JJ gave a Winner rating for my previous post which said the same yesterday.

Not sure what your point is? I'm not privy to players contracts, Its just my opinion ffs. The "I don't believe" should have been the clue here.

Apologies - my post probably came across in wrong tone.
Just intrigued that two people best known for ITK seemed to have differing opinions on the same subject.
Like you've clarified, your comment was based more on belief rather than insider info!

Who says he is going to play regularly? He will be a rich bench warmer like he is for Belgium. I never thought he was good enough for us. He seems to have the wrong attitude for the Poch's Army and the filth from West London have blown a small part of their transfer fund on someone who will not get a lot of game time and will be disruptive. He could even end up being loaned out at Christmas. They have no European football. It is always possible that they will also buy another striker!

You seem to be taking it personally that he's decided to go elsewhere, it happens and it doesn't make him an enemy or 'not good enough' for us.

That explains why Levy would back away from the deal then. It is a huge outlay and massive gamble.

This is the case all the time. Ultimately it rests with each of us to take into account available information and believe or not believe as we deem fit. Contradictory ITK? Alderweireld springs to mind as one obvious example. Doesn't mean they are trying to oust each other or that one is more "wrong" than the other. It's really a moot point.

Dear lord...

Have you seen the way we play? I assume you have, therefore one of the following must be true...

1. You've never seen him play.
2. You've lost your mind.
3. You're Sam Allardyce.

1 ive seen him play, and play fkin consistently well
2 childish
3 funny

Let me emphasise hes fix or six on my list that you conveniently edited to make yourself laugh, but infinitely better, if hed take a cut, than no fcker, which has been the outcome across the last three windows when the need was equally evident?

I think poch could motivate him.

But i prefer a good few others because theyre younger and better value.

And don't forget he has 2 fellow countrymen on that team as well.

I didn't edit to make myself laugh, I pulled him out because he was the one I wanted to make the point about...

It's not about Poch motivating him, it's about him being a really bad fit for the way we play, which I'm assuming you can clearly see, given you have watched both him and us play a lot. He doesn't suit the bindippers either, which is a big part of why he's been shit.

He's got West Ham written all over him as soon as they stop kidding themselves.

I know many will think this is not important but those who really know the game will agree.

His hairstyle does not suit our style of play and therefore it is a bullet dodged.
