Liverpool play midweek in league cup fixture away at Burton.
I am sure Klopp will field the 2nd XI players . But I do hope, the game takes their focus from us.

Poch names Kane as captain and yet some on here think he will be dropped the very next game after a win and an assist.o_O

Eriksen will sit out, i am almost certain.....not because he is suddenly not good enough, but if your off form you sit out....thats the whole point in having a strong squad....he will come back better for it imo

Does the concept of squad rotation and resting some players not make sense ? Would you rather he not play at all in the champions league or be burnt out three quarter's of the way through the season.. I'd much rather keep him fresh and hungry and I also just don't think he's a great number 10

Think janssen will be dropped back to the bench again. Poch won't play two up front against the likes of Liverpool. Tricky one to predict, they are very up and down...hopeless defensively though.

Glad you have came round to playing Janssen as well as Kane.
Janssen and Kane together is an awful partnership. 2 like strikers together is highly redundant and hasnt done anything of note since Poch started with it in pre season.

Right now I see the same thing as last year with this team. Lamela the only one doing anything on the pitch and we are shit without Dembele. Not sure why people want to believe we're good with Dier and Wanyama together snd with Kane and Janssen together. Because we're not. Both "partnerships" are incredibly redundant, remarkably poor and seem thrown togrther at the last minute. The stuff that looked okay in pre season has been no where to be seen. Winks, who was our best player by a mile, has been no where to be found. Its all well and good to not want anyone else teaching your young players but if you dont want to even attempt to use them then there's absolutely no point in it as they need first team experience first and foremost.

Couldn't disagree more about Kane and Janssen together. It has a lot of potential provided the movement is right and they both have great movement. Kane does need to play deeper and make the correct decisions but he is definitely capable of that.
You have a point about Wanyama and Dier and I would have liked to see Winks get some minutes beside one of them but it's early days and we haven't got into our stride yet. Despite this we made 7-8 very scorable chances on Saturday and didn't look like conceding.
You'd think we'd lost our two opening games by the tone of your post.

Kane the new Rooney, squeeze him into the side by playing him where he's significantly less effective

Not really he was mainly a deeper forward until he broker into our first team and we pushed him further up top.

Personally I love him to bits whether he's player behind a centre forward or the actual centre forward himself.

P.s. Oh and love your avatar by the way lol (y)

p.p.s. Rooney is a **** (y)

I have faith in Poch. I hope Kane and Janssen can play together effectively as an orthodox strike partnership, it'd just be a shame to take such an offensive weapon and lump them into an unfamiliar position no10 role in order to accomodate a possibly less effective offensive weapon and fuck with the teams chemistry and way of playing at the same time.

Ps. Thank you haha gets me wet

You need to attack the weaknesses of your opponent, Liverpools is their clusterfuck of a defence so playing both Kane and Janssen - both busy bastards- makes perfect sense. These 2 will hassle and unsettle the centre backs, as Lamela will to Moreno

You also need to counter their strength, which is their counter press. I'm not sure both Dier and Wanyama are comfortable enough receiving the ball under pressure, so I'd like to see Winks, or perhaps more realistically Mason starting. We lose physicality in there, but gain the ability to cope with the pressing of their front players

Vorm

Walker Toby Jan Rose

Dier Winks

Lamela Kane Alli

Janssen

Subs: McGhee, Davies, Wimmer, Wanyama, Eriksen, Chadli, Onamah
