If he flops then we will sell him. No biggie.
He isnt our star player or expected to be.

I think this is definitely worth remembering. Even at £30m he's not even our most valuable midfielder, it's just that price inflation and an emphasis on development for the past few seasons have distorted that. Imagine what we'd have to pay for Dembele if we were buying him now!

It's not a pay as you go phone we've bought. We've agreed to pay £30m payable in 5 or 6 payments.

Were you seriously think make the first payment and then sell him Ebay style in the next window for £15m and pocket the difference?

From what the reports are saying, it's 6M per year for 5 years, but a minimum amount will need to be paid. Which I gather would be atleast 50 to 70%, so we can sell him off in 2 years for 25M and end up only playing 20M to Newcastle as the "minimum amount". So we actually made 5M, and technically we sold him for a lost of 5M from his reported selling price.

Might be a bit complicated, but that's what I understand, it seems we can screw Newcastle pretty badly.

It doesn't seem like it's a 5 year "instalment plan". But a cleverly structured deal which gives us a lot of flexibility.

Technically the report should say we signed him for a deal that could be worth up to £30M. But I think since Everton bid £30M, and Newcastle need to make sure we "match" the deal and not making it seem that Sissoko was actually the one deciding where he wanted to go.

It's a 50/50, so I voted no, he won't be a hit.
miss. once the novelty of his lung-bursting but ultimately fruitless runs has worn off people will see him for the technically limited and unintelligent player he is.
I'm always very wary when the two of us agree word for word. That never happens. However, last time (probably a couple of seasons ago), I seem to remember we were quite spot on. :nailbiting:

Hit, I think he will surprise a lot of people with his attitude and become a firm fan favourite.

If I look past the fee (and the supposed fee structure), then I think he's a very good fit for this squad. But the fee is strangely nagging at me, so I can't yet get fully behind his signing.

I think he has the potential to be a massive singing. *IF* the Sissoko that played this summer in the Euros shows up, then we've made a great deal. If not, and he's as hit-and-miss as he's showed over his time with Newcastle, then plenty are going to be pissed off.

But that doesn't really answer the question. So if someone forced me to choose, then I'd say he's going to be a hit...though naysayers will always bring up his fee, even if he's successful and a £30 million transfer in summer 2016 is probably inflated by 100% compared to summer 2015.

If Pochettino can work the same magic that he did with the then inconsistent Dembele, then I think Sissoko will be a hit.

There's really no need to build this signing into more than it is. Sissoko is a £20m signing who, in the post-TV deal world, has turned into a £30m one.

In that context, he cost less than Lamela and Soldado, and about the same as Sonny and Paulinho from the pre-deal days. We don't normally freak about about players in that price range; it's not a marquee or statement signing.

A normal, healthy optimism/expectancy/trepidation is fine, just the same as when Sonny arrived, but no need for too much drama.

I think he will excel with us! He has something to prove and why not do that on the CL table!

I'm going to be optimistic and say with Poch's influence and no-prisoner's approach, as well as the influence of his international captain in Lloris, he'll be a hit.

The key will be him getting a good start. A couple of rampaging performances and a goal in the first few games will set him up nicely.

Reckon he'll do well, he seems quite busy and usually plays a part in attacking moves.

The barcodes have slagged him off since he arrived at st james but I feel with better quality players around he will be do well for us.

Probably the biggest and most supporter splitting signing we have had in recent times. TBH I think he has all the physical attributes needed to be a success with us, the only thing to question is his mentality. There is the argument that he is inconsistent but that can be rebutted with the argument he was in a shocking bad team since his arrival in England.

One thing I think we can all agree on is that this is a Poch signing, at 27 and around £30M I can't see Levy pushing this through on his own, and I'm a proud BSoDL.

This is a simple open vote where members can vote for or against.

Not that splitting judging by your results - most think he will be a hit !

No.

I think he'll do ok, but won't play his way into the team. He may well prove to be a good option on the bench, but I wouldn't describe that as a hit.

Under Poch he'll be a hit. Got his France captain with him too. Should keep him in check.

I say he will be a hit because he adds a different dimension we have never had and for that alone, I think people will be pleased to see him make his runs and hopefully contribute. I am in no way against the addition of MS as I think he is a quality player that can start and come off the bench. I think he will put in some game winning performances and that alone is a hit in my book.
