He's been described as a tank, but I don't believe that he has much of a gun, so I am going for an Armoured Personnel Carrier - carrying the team up the pitch to the inevitable free-kick as some thug finally stops him.

As such, a sort of hit – especially if Eriksen can get his free-kick mojo back.

It didn't take long for someone to have a contrasting opinion to you in the thread on the matter? So every one should just say amazing singing, will be a success, worth the money, #trustinpotch. Repeat ad nausiuem.

No. You've completely missed the point.

For me it is more about whether he makes the team better
I think he will He has the capacity to have great energy and no little skill so he has the ingredients
I dont care if he has a great season but the team doesnt do as well
Although the fee looks large the whole window was over inflated and he is only being picked on because of the circumstance of the move and that Newcash got relegated The press didnt mention the Dutch guy who went to Everton who was equally involved in their [Newcash] demise

He'll be fine. And people are misunderstanding the fee. It's £30M if he stays for 5 years. £6M a year. And there's a minimum payment to hit if we sell him very early, which has been estimated by reported at around £20M. So if we sell him in 3 years when he's turning 30 we have to pay £18M + A couple of million. Really not that big a deal.

What's your source for that?

Money out of the picture I think he will be a hit in terms of being a solid squad player and a valuable player for us. However he will be considered a miss because of the price tag. He isn't a £30m player and we shouldn't expect one but every under par performance will follow with comments about the price. He is however a very talented player who needs a good manager to get the best out of him. We have that here and I think he'll do well.

Having had the structure of the transfer explained I don't understand how anyone has an issue with the price really.

So taking that out of the equation, I think there's more chance he'll be a hit than a miss. There are legitimate concerns about his attitude and his work-rate, but Poch is super-keen on those things so I'd be surprised if he hadn't considered that and thought he can get something out of him.

If his head is in the right place, he's a great player and gives us something we don't have anywhere else in the squad at the moment. If he's going to play wider then a lot will depend on his end product, but I suspect he'll be more infield anyway with the way our fullbacks play.

It's certainly not a guaranteed hit, but with Poch in charge I am confident he'll do well for us.

I think it's pretty risk free... I love how the structured payments will work... 6M per year for 5years, most likely a minimum of... Maybe 15 to 18M. So we can give him a couple of seasons and see how things go...

If he does well. He would most likely be rewarded with a new contract and look like a bargain for 30m, if he is not, we can sell him for a "loss" for about 20M, and still be making a profit even thou technically we are selling him off lower then what we bought him for. Heck we might even add a buy back clause at 25M so we screw Newcastle of 5M and we save a few million too. Seriously what a deal.... :ROFLMAO:

But now I am fully behind him to do well, he is one of us now. And I expect nothing less then the best form him.
It's not a pay as you go phone we've bought. We've agreed to pay £30m payable in 5 or 6 payments.

Were you seriously think make the first payment and then sell him Ebay style in the next window for £15m and pocket the difference?

I'd love it if he became Player of the year.

Particularly if he's had a good read about what the Newcastle & Everton fans have being saying about him and gets some fire in his belly.
Everton are like that sketch from Peter Kay running for the bus, missing and breaking into a walk as if you never meant to catch it in the first place.

Unlike Zaha, I think this guy will be good for our squad and although 30m is overpriced, I'd rather have the option of his power and pace than have money sitting in the bank.

I want to believe, but I think ultimately he'll become the new scapegoat, he'll fustrat the hell out of us and be sold to China or PSG for about what we paid for him. Really hope I'm wrong!

Don't give a shit about how much he cost but voted Miss, as I think he's a tremendous athlete but a mediocre footballer, and I think we are more in need of footballers than we are of athletes. Would much rather we had signed Boufal instead (and gone for another CM with the £14m saving, if that's where we intend to play Sissoko).

That said, whilst my honest opinion is that he'll overall be more in the Miss camp than he'll be in the Hit camp, I obviously hope I'm wrong and he tears it up for us. For all the people who jump down the throat of anyone who questions Sissoko's signing, it's not like the doubters WANT to be right, people just call things as they see them for the most part.

If he flops then we will sell him. No biggie.
He isnt our star player or expected to be.

Think he will do ok to be honest, he can be devastating on his day and adds a different dimension to our existing players if we want to rotate around a bit.

Interesting to see where he'll fit into the current set-up. He's quite different to any of our existing players so adds a new dimension to our play. The way I see it, we now have central midfield options of:
  • Dier - Rock, great reader of the game and provides great calmness and solidity to our play
  • Dembele - Controls tempo of the game, ball retention and ability to move the play forward
  • Wanyama - Hard tackler, wining the ball back and releasing quickly to more creative players
  • Erikson - Little sparks of creativity to cut through the lines. Often key in releasing Walker / Rose. Biggest threat from dead balls
  • Lamella - High energy closing down and runnig with the ball, adds element of chaos that opposition defences don't like.
  • Alli - Unpredictable but in a good way, can get the faces of other teams and tries to pull players out of position with his runs
  • Son - Good engine, full of energy and canny ability to pop up in the right place at the right time. Always more dangerous than he looks.

What I'm expecting from the new guys:
  • Sissoko - Powerful running direct at defences and quick breaks to catch teams before they settle into formation.
  • Nkoudou - Lightweight winger, quick, may lose control and get pushed off the ball easily but will create space and win a few freekicks

Sure others will disagree with how I view some of them but that's how I see it and imagine Sissoko will be interchangable with Lamella rather than Dembele.

No. You've completely missed the point.

What's the point then that a price tag shouldn't have anything bearing on a judgement of player? Well good luck with that one. The whole game will measure him on that and when a club commits such sums they will expect a sizeable return on their investment. And that is why it is such a poor deal on our part because there such a disconnect between his talent and his fee, he simply does not posses the required talent to justify that fee and his age means that it will almost certainly result in a loss when he does depart. Lamela was the right deal at that time, Sissoko certainly isn't.
