Tottenham Hotspur reject wonderkid loan bid from Wigan Athletic
EXCLUSIVE: Wigan Athletic approached Spurs about a deal for one of their many academy products but were rebuffed

Tottenham Hotspur have turned down an approach from Championship side Wigan Athletic for talented young full-back Kyle Walker-Peters.

The 19-year-old is highly rated by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino and is currently training with the first team.

He was an unused substitute on the bench against Aston Villa last Sunday in the FA Cup having been involved once before in a matchday squad, last season in the Premier League against Bournemouth.

Wigan are struggling in the Championship and currently sit only above stricken Rotherham in the table. They finally ended a seven-game run without a victory by beating Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the FA Cup at the weekend.

The Latics have been missing right-back Reece Burke, on loan from West Ham, with a hip injury, with Luke Garbutt taking his place in the position.

Wigan boss Warren Joyce made a move for the speedy Walker-Peters to fill the problem role, however football.london understands that loan move was turned down by Spurs as Pochettino believes the teenage full-back, who is primarily a right-back but can also play on the left or on the wings, is ready to step into the first team on a more regular basis.

So impressed has his manager been with him, Walker-Peters is expected to put a bit of pressure on, and cover for, the current back-ups to Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, Kieran Trippier and Ben Davies, over the remainder of the season, while learning from all four.

The young defender is believed to be set to sign a new deal in the coming weeks reflecting his increased profile within the club.

Football.London also understands that loan bids for another Spurs academy product, talented midfielder Luke Amos, from Sky Bet League One side Northampton Town and League Two outfit Carlisle United, have been rejected.

I dunno - I understand Poch wanting to keep the best talents close - someone like Amos - learning what's it's like in a real league midfield battle for a few months surely couldn't hurt?

I find it funny how people on here question how our management use our youth players, this isn't a dig, but we know 1% about football compared to them. If they believed it would be good for KWP, Onomah, Amos etc to go out on loan, surely they would do it. The latest guys we loaned out Pritchard, Oduwa didn't really work out to well in regards to breaking through.

We play a certain way, Poch is creating a great atmosphere at the club and players with that extra quality i.e. Winks, Onomah, KWP, Edwards, CCV, Amos are getting their reward and training with some of the best players in the world and being directed by one of the best managers in the world. For me, i say this is far better for their development then getting kicked around in the Championship / League 1, playing for teams that don't pass or press or play anything like we do. Poch we be able to tell on a daily basis who is good enough for the first team, rather than coach reports regarding how a loan is going. Just my 2 cents.

Like everyone on here, nothing beats a player coming through the ranks and we are currently the best at doing that in the Top 6. This should be applauded and we have some real talent coming through. Great times.

Our u13s beat Zenit in the final of the Riga Cup. Haven't watched the final but we didn't concede a goal up until that match

Our first game against Santa Claus starts around 55mins. We won 7 nil, were gifting us goals :cautious:

Other games later in that stream.

Almost through the game, and it looks like we have another Maghoma, Onomah, Madeuke, TOB type CM, who looks decent. Good little LB too.

No number 8 comes on later in the game the number 3 plays like Matt Lock but I do not know if it is him or is he too old for this type of thing?

Yep ignore me mate, kept stop starting only, just seen him come on. That certainly looks like Shashoua, was wondering why he was a no.3 . Just trying to match numbers. Lock is a good shout for 3. There's no u16 that immediately comes to my mind otherwise

So I believe it wuld be our u16s won the Euro Cup. An indoor competition beating Bayern Munich 4-2 in the final. We also beat Zagreb along the way.

http://www.jugend-eurocup.de/jec/index.php/aktuelle-ergebnisse.html

It must have been for 00s and younger. From this game against Zaagreb it looks like

TOB, Eyoma, De Bie, Rchards and not sure

2 - Eyoma
3 - Lock
4 - Hinds
5 - Lyons-Foster
6 - Omalabi
7 - Maghoma
8 - Shashoua
9 - Mukendie
10 - TOB
11 - Griffiths
12 - Richards

Looks like all 00s I believe other than Maghoma. The only 00s missing are Thorpe and Patterson.

Really interesting watching this age group play indoor football. In the brief clip Hinds looks good and you wouldn't know Eyoma is a CB
