For me it's a matter of principle. It's about not weakening ourselves and simultaneously strengthening a direct rival.Something to consider is Modric, Berbatov and Bale were our out and out star players. Walker as good as he is, is far from being that in this current team.

Closer but there is still a gap. The Sky four get huge revenue from the fans they picked up in Africa and Asia during the period they monopolised the Champions League spots.
Fair to say, reading between the lines of Poch's presser, there is something in these rumours.
Again, how desperate it is will be shown in his team selection on Friday. Walker has served us well so I am inclined to think he will remain professional. We can then scrap this out with his agent over the summer.
Best case scenario, we agree a new deal with him and all the other first players as they deserve it. Worse case, he's sold abroad. It should not even be an option for him to be sold to a rival. He's got 4 years left on his deal.
As much as Walker has been very good the last 2 seasons - the bedrock of our defensive record has been our collective organisation and team work.
The one thing I'd want to see if he goes though is some genuine pace being brought in to replace him. Either at RB/RWB or another CB if we go three at the back.

Walker's recovery pace on the cover has been a real security blanket for Toby and Verts - they know they can push high because he can make those runs back. When he's not there they are more vulnerable - like when Toby brought down Pedro for the first goal at Wembley. We do we need genuine pace at CB? As long as they're mobile enough to react to balls behind/over the top of our high line they're quick enough.
Neither, Kyle Walker-Peters.England pick a squad tomorrow.
Walker or Trippier?
Exactly.
OoookkkaayyyNeither, Kyle Walker-Peters.
