Anyway if/when we're no longer in the total race I'd like to see kwp given a game. No better time with pressure off

Something to consider is Modric, Berbatov and Bale were our out and out star players. Walker as good as he is, is far from being that in this current team.
For me it's a matter of principle. It's about not weakening ourselves and simultaneously strengthening a direct rival.

I think the Walker situation clearly fits that description, even if he isn't our star man per se and even if we are strong at his position. I suppose it's an open question whether the club see it the same way.

Maybe someone needs to remind him of that. I'm looking at lloris, Rose, Kane etc. The leaders in the dressing room.

Where do we draw the line though? Yes he's not a star but he's still best in the league at his position. Our performance is based on the team too, and the team growing and improving together.

If all it takes is a sneaky call to a players agent and we'll cave in and sell to a direct rival, who's next? Whether a player is a star in the team or not we should be setting a precedent now. We will not sell to a rival team. We're trying to win the league. Because if we go back down that road it's only a matter of time before you end up seeing Rose, Toby and even Eriksen at Manchester clubs.

Fair to say, reading between the lines of Poch's presser, there is something in these rumours.

Again, how desperate it is will be shown in his team selection on Friday. Walker has served us well so I am inclined to think he will remain professional. We can then scrap this out with his agent over the summer.

Best case scenario, we agree a new deal with him and all the other first players as they deserve it. Worse case, he's sold abroad. It should not even be an option for him to be sold to a rival. He's got 4 years left on his deal.

"we'll see at the end of the season if the rumours are true"

Hmm not something I'd say if I was intent on keeping a player. He could just be being Cute with the media.

Think he's a gone, or at least has talked to the management that he wants to

Walker who is the leagues best player in his position is nowhere near one of out best players

We really do have a great team and can see why teams want to ruin it

As much as Walker has been very good the last 2 seasons - the bedrock of our defensive record has been our collective organisation and team work.

The one thing I'd want to see if he goes though is some genuine pace being brought in to replace him. Either at RB/RWB or another CB if we go three at the back.

We do we need genuine pace at CB? As long as they're mobile enough to react to balls behind/over the top of our high line they're quick enough.

Closer but there is still a gap. The Sky four get huge revenue from the fans they picked up in Africa and Asia during the period they monopolised the Champions League spots.

Do you have any figures on how the well they are monetising fans like the one below? :shy:

This is bullshit timing, and our fans like that twat on twitter adding to the buzz about Walker doesnt help. It's a distraction, thats why Poch directly addressed it today. I'm gonna take Pochs advice, forget and shut up about it for a while and start sending round some fake ITK about Sanchez Aguero and Coutinho wanting out to balance things out a little bit.

Would be a massive shame to lose Walker but of all the first teamers to lose I think he one of the most replaceable. If City don't make CL and he goes there he's going to look like such a mercenary. Hope Levy rinses them for every last penny.

Replaceable, with who?!

You're fooling yourselves saying he's replaceable. He's the best right back in the Prem, look how many right backs Arsenal, City and United etc have brought in since we've had Walker and none of them are as good.

We shouldn't be strengthening our Prem rivals, end of story. If he's goes Madrid or Barcelona fair enough but no-one in our current XI should be sold to anyone in England.

Completely different time. It was very well known that the early years of Levy's reign were filled with mistakes. He learnt from those mistakes and he wont be making them again. None of our top players will be sold to our competitors in the PL.

Its no surprise Jose and Pep have said that they cant deal with us as we've grown as a club. There was a very real valid point in those statements and it may even be the reason why the rumours are that Walker may have been tapped up, however, any advances to him by any of the top clubs beit informal or unofficial will be totally futile I believe and Levy wont be having none of it. The only way any deal could ever happen I would assume is, if we are getting something very good in return...And that's not necessarily money. More than likely a player we are ourselves desperately after.

That being said, the risk of getting a player you want at the expense of strengthen our opponent is something I don't think the club would be willing to sacrifice if you ask me. Only need to look at Modric and Bale over the last few years to know Levy's learnt and will sell abroad than sell a top player to a domestic club.

Walker's recovery pace on the cover has been a real security blanket for Toby and Verts - they know they can push high because he can make those runs back. When he's not there they are more vulnerable - like when Toby brought down Pedro for the first goal at Wembley.

England pick a squad tomorrow.
Walker or Trippier?
Exactly.
Edit- Also ask yourself this, why are Man City, Utd, etc, rumoured (and I use the term through gritted teeth) to be interested in Walker and not Trippier? I know why. Because he's the better player and removing him fks us up thats why.
Theres always 2 reasons for buying from other PL teams when talking about the money bags teams, 1 it makes them stronger, 2 it makes you weaker. Its why Chelsea step in and gazump players they neither need nor want. Just leaves you up shit creek. Fergies Man U did it all the time.

Considering he's usually standing on the right hand side of the opposition's final third with his foot on the ball trying to decide if he's going to cross or cut it back (of course he'll cut it back), that's some feat.
