'Royal' families having a dispute.

I raised an eyebrow when the countries getting upset were named. Not exactly known for their peaceful nature, tanks on the street in Bahrain, Saudi we know about, and Egypt has had an attack on Coptic Christians recently.

Meanwhile Qatar, while very very slack with its human rights, tends to prioritise business, research and education overseas. Wonder what this is really about. Qatar has been friendly with Iran recently...

Also worth noting that Oman and Kuwait have not done anything. Maybe it's an oil/gas issue.

It was mentioned on BBC Radio 4 this morning and an expert they got on said this could be the Arab states punishing Qatar for getting out of line and speaking with Iran.

They also accused their state run media of promoting terror organizations so I think its alot more than just the Iran thing

Al-Jazeera has been raking the Saudis and UAE over the coals the past few weeks, lots of coverage of Yemen and criticism of the governments. In late May both Saudi Arabia and the UAE banned Al-Jazeera from their countries.

One of the Qatari Sheiks said they recognise Iran (not Saudi) as the regional power and then criticised the Saudi and Trump policies towards Iran. He said something like Hamas is the "legitimate voice of the Palestinian people" and said Iran is the true stabilising voice in the region.

Qatar has reportedly been backing (or at least giving "favourable" portrayals of) "Arab Spring" movements in various countries in the Middle East so guessing that is what the "promoting terror organisations" is...

All of it seems out of left field though....

That Qatari sheikh sounds like a real gem:eek:

I do know that Qatar completely "failed" to monitor the 5 Taliban terrorists the US traded for Bergdahl. They went right back into terror.

This certainly is out of left field, though. Making me wonder if Qatar was at the recent conference with the other Arab countries and donny boy in Saudi Arabia. Maybe that had something to do with this happening now?
