196 actually. 195 if you discount Taiwan (which does operate independently)
196 recognised nations at that... which brings us back to those human rights issues again...

2022 World Cup: Fans could be housed in Bedouin-style camps
Supporters at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar could be housed in traditional Bedouin-style desert camps.
Some of the 500,000 fans expected in the Gulf nation might be accommodated under canvas near stadiums.
"At the heart of this World Cup is a commitment to showcase hospitality and friendship of the Middle East," said a spokesman.
"As a result, we are actively researching the concept of supporters sleeping under the stars."
Bedouin campsites are inspired by the homes of tribes that have historically lived in the Arabian and Syrian deserts.
The tournament has already been moved from its traditional June-July slot to December over concerns about high temperatures.
Will there be alcohol though?
Not that it matters i'm sure the number of westerners that turn down the opportunity to go will be made up by people from the middle east.
I'm not sure it will...it'll be Blatters long lasting legacy of corruption and stink...It bothers me that this tournament hasn't been pulled yet.

The human rights issues are certainly worth a boycott, and besides that the winter scheduling and global indulgence of a nation of only 280,000 citizens (0.004% of the world's population) make this an event entirely without merit. What an outrageous decision.Still say we should boycott it over those human rights issues.
Not sure what you mean -- would that be retired international players?I wonder if with the help of regular football clubs, a legends world cup tournament could be put on in 2022 at the same time as the official Qatar one? If it was done right and televised, I'm sure people would tune in as an alternative.
