In my opinion Levy has been a very good chairman. He's worked hard to build the club gradually until we have reached the point where we are today, challenging for the title 2 years on the trot, and about to move into a 61000 seat stadium. We've got a manager and first team as good as any, and the team plays the type of football other clubs and their fans are envious of. He might not buy all the big name players(obviously we would all love it if he would), but where has that got teams like Man U and other big clubs who have been in disaray over the past few seasons.

finishing in the top 4 on a handful of occasions across his very long tenure, with a solitary league cup in the trophy cabinet, does not deserve adulation. Putting up a little ENIC money, beyond the Club's, would be a dream...

He has a very difficult transition to manage- he's finally got a leader in Poch, and a core of 15 or 16 players, who are close to bringing back the glory days. But people won't pay top dollar at the new stadium unless we continue to compete, adding to the squad to challenge on more than one front- not depleting it.

We are clearly two players short of having a squad, three if Walker goes and four if Lamela doesn't recover quickly. Alli's out of the first three CL group games?

What more does Poch have to do, to prove he deserves his picks in ready for pre-season training?

You seem to be assuming that Levy is stopping him having the squad he wants out of meanness or a lak of confidence in him. Is there any evidence for this?

no, I'm assuming it's because he doesn't want to pay an early window premium, unwilling to top out offers by the likes of West Ham for players let alone the Oil Clubs. And yeah, there's shitloads of albeit circumstantial evidence from down the years. If you can't see the pattern you're not objective.

What's the value of a Poch pre-season, vs being signed after five games?

All assumptions. No facts. I can't believe a lot of this sort of thing.

Levy would have to be some sort of drooling idiot incapable of pouring milk on his own Cheerios if he deliberately and repeatedly chose to try to save a few quid in the way you (and others) describe while undermining the prospects of the team. I think there's a tiny bit more to the whole transfer business than you give him credit for.

I'm with you there !!! A forty six year old bladder is starting to show the strain ;)

(And I've just noticed @cider spurs that my initial response appeared somewhat patronising. Apologies, wasn't meant to just missed an emoji of the end )

No apologies needed old bean. No offence taken whatsoever.

No facts? No evidence? You lot live in a parallel universe with a parallel truth.

Agree to disagree, but well worth revisiting when he's finished his work for another window. See you back here then, in the meantime have a nice summer.

Yes, but even if he buys no one to your satisfaction, you still won't know the reasons.

If you asked fans of other English clubs if they'd rather have Levy than their current chairman I think I know what they'd say.

It's the typical single mindedness of football fans "my clubs the best, we should win a lot of stuff and sign the best". It's bullshit, I think some of our fans forget how terrible we were, when Levy took over a win over the any big team was a rare treat now we are competing. No we're not winning but we have always had bigger clubs to compete with. I remember when Everton, Villa and Newcastle were our rivals or even betters. We don't deserve anything we have to earn it.

Even Mullers doesn't even post in here anymore, tells you all you need to know about the thread :D
There seems to be some sort of mass misunderstanding about this. This thread was originally started a long time ago and a number of Levy threads have been merged into it. This latest bump has got nothing to do with 'Is he holding us back' its asking a completely different question.

I think a title change is in order.

They still exist in pretty high number.

Read some Tottenham related transfer article on a tabloid, and if it has comments, chances are a few of them will read along the lines of "we should be going after player x and player y, but that twit levy won't spend any money!"

On top of that, a lot of the Spurs newsfeeds keep posting that moron Harry Hotspur.
