Chelsea have quite a few central defenders. They had the luxury to loan out Zouma. Cahill is suspended but Luis, Christensen, Rudiger and even Azpilicueta can all play CB for them. It's not an enormous need for them.

They have been linked to VVD though

Walked into this thread rock hard after that win, but now I'm getting nervous.

Meh, I'd obviously like him because he seems great but we don't *need* a new CB. It's a nice to have and not a must have

They already have young CBs in Rudiger and Christensen (and Zouma out on loan), would be bizarre if they tried to sign another one. They have much more pressing needs as well.

But then again, it's Chelsea.

I disagree to an extent. Toby and Jan are incredible and obviously we don't need to replace either of them. It's great that we can switch to a three with Dier in there too.

But once Toby, Jan or Dier get injured we would have to use Wimmer, now I like Wimmer but as we saw against City last year he can get the runaround against quicker players and on that Wembley pitch we are going to need a CB with electric pace, seen as we play a high line.

So two reasons
1: If we occur injuries
2: Playing a high line on that Wembley pitch

It would also be incredibly satisfying to know we can attract potentially world-class talent.

As previously mentioned, they'll do anything to fuck us over...hopefully because they're scared.

Just gotta hope that Sanchez sees that he'll get more game time with us.

We really should be spending on other positions IMO. If Chelsea pay £55m on this guy then whatever.

We need some pace the line behind Kane and we need a right back. Everything else is just a 'nice to have'.

If Poch is keen to prioritise a back 3 (and given last year's performances I think he should be) then getting another CB is essential. Any of Dier, Toby or Jan get injured and we're playing with Wimmer or CCV --> not good enough.

I don't think he is prioritising a back 3, even today when we had verts, Toby, dier, wanyama and dembele all on the pitch we stayed with a back 4. Granted it's only one game but it would've made sense to switch to it considering the personnel

I understand your points and I'd deffo like him, just making the point we have 3 excellent CBs for a back 3 which could become a back 4 if we got an injury. Obviously, another quality CB would help and I agree on Jan and Toby but, if you had to pick a position where we were desperate for another face, CB would be low down on the list.

Obvs, part of this is me insulating myself from pain if he goes elsewhere!!

But dier is also one of three main midfielders plus winks...somewhere we need an extra central number

I only watched on tv but I noticed Dier took up the central CB with Verts and Toby to the left and right- this was after Victor came on so I'd say we're probably going to be quite fluid in the way we set up across the pitch

All those saying we don't need a centre back. We will if we sell Wimmer. People complain when we sold Walker without getting a replacement first. Now we're looking to get a replacement for Wimmer before he is sold and people say he isn't needed.

He was doing that throughout the match, as he always does when he plays midfield, at times after winks came on dier was the furthest forward of the 3 mids

A Vietese fan in Twitter said it's a mistranslation- Chelsea may be interested.

Please let's not go into a meltdown...yet
