Training with the squad and in their squad tomorrow. Yeah this is not nearly as close as people think.
So....it all appears that we have agreed a contract with the player and his agent (pay and timescales etc).

We are in negotiations with Ajax and are discussing the amounts and payment structure. This is pretty widely accepted. Our main man (JJ) is saying be patient and is positive on the deal.

Until it's done he's an Ajax player so turns up at training and their manager (who's not involved in the actual negotiations) says he's available for selection. I don't know what else he would say until he's told the deal is done.

I don't see how this means it isn't close. If agreement is reached he could be on a plane to London for his medical within an hour.

Ajax qualifies for EL - they would get close to 8m Euro for particiapation from UEFA by default.

I bet, Levy would bet negotiation is like - let him play & help you get into EL. By getting into EL, the gap is bridged.

Didn't JJ say deal is done 100% but also in the initial tweet transfers require patience. I dare say this is the ploy

I'm sorry but this is bullocks, once again; we've got plenty of money. This summer we allready made a 40 million win during this window. Marc Overmars set a price on Sanchez, and you'll only get him when you pay it. Or else Overmars's position is not safe at Ajax

Could this mean that we might wait for the sales of Janssen, Sissoko etc to European clubs, so we receive payment in Euros to pay Ajax?

From my time on the FX desk dealing with the prem (2012-15ish) we used to receive Eufa money (comps and huge TV wadges) in Euros. Some clubs would flip it into GBP immediately and use it. Others would simply keep it in EUR accounts (in EUR) as they knew they would need it shortly (you do something called a cross currency swap to ensure you are hedged/don't lose out on positive movements).

What I'm getting at is, due to the sizable increases in dosh coming in from the streams mentioned above I would be amazed if we didn't have a huge chunk of EURs sat ready.

What a load of sh*t, the exact point I was going to make is in the bottom of the article - surely the fees we'll get from Europe will counter balance this, so there's a natural hedge. Not concerned really

Yeah, that undisclosed fee for Fazio is properly going to sort us out... :joyful:

I do wonder if there will be any talks between the clubs about Wimmer going the other way

I really can't see that happening. Not sure he'd want to go there really, in fact I'm fairly certain he's said he'd ideally like to stay in the Prem.

Yeah maybe he would see it as a step back but with not long left of the window I'm sure he just wants to play. There's far worse moves he could make. Plus coming from Austria I'm sure he would settle well there.

Austria is full of mountains. The Netherlands isn't.

This fucking thread!

I can't wait for this transfer window to close.

You can't blame people for getting agitated as we've been here before... plenty of deals looking good then bam, window shuts and we're left wondering what happened to these so called pretty much nailed on deals. It's not as if any incoming is a luxury, we have 2-3 positions that must be filled prior to the window closes and as the days tick by the likelihood of this happening dwindles every day.

Not really, I mean you think people would learn and temper their expectations based on previous windows...

Very difficult when we keep receiving 'positive' news to get us excited... drawn into a false sense of security.

Any chance you could talk us through your thought process?

Well it's not too far from home and I'm sure many in Holland will speak German. Maybe he speaks a bit of Dutch too. It wouldn't be too difficult to communicate over there. Although I'm not sure what it's like culturally between the 2 but can't be more a change than what England would be. Luckily he had Son to help him out early on. Plus Amsterdam is a big city like London.

This is how long the transfer feels now that I'm going through some crazy theories to occupy my time until this one is complete.
