MARSEILLE WANTED DEMBELE

Marseille had hoped to sign Celtic striker Moussa Dembele to bolster their attacking options but have been priced out of a move, according to Le10Sport.

The injured forward was thought to be open to a move to France but the Scottish champions reportedly demanded €40m for their prized asset.

Welcome Johnny Fourth.

Given your surname, pal, I'd thought you join Arsenal. Good work for saying no to the Paris lot. You may still get to play with ol' Serge though, but that's for another time.

Also, thanks for joining on the fourth hour of the afternoon. Juanderful news.

COYS!

Im seriously not keen on Gray,Max Meyer or Berardi would be much better options. Going forward Sessegnon and Zaha would give us the pace on the wings that we need but can't see either this season unfortunately

Max Mayer is available on a free from Jan.....

As others have mentioned Pastore would also fit in with the "experienced South American" ITK we had earlier in the window. If we did try and go for him at the time we had that ITK and were rebuffed then he would also align with Herc's ITK that we were revisiting past targets.

He plays as a No. 10 and CM, the same positions we were reportedly planning to play Barkley in, so would make for a perfect alternative. Someone on reddit today mentioned that reports from France suggested that PSG pushed Aurier to us over United specifically because they wanted to establish good ties with us, and if that is true I could see them sending another one of their cast-offs our way as well. Together with Rob's winner rating on a Pastore post I'd say there's a fair amount of smoke.

I think we've established (in all probability) that the goats cryptic is in reference to Jadon Sancho.
Rob also winnered a message guessing Pastore.
He might be 28, but he is talented, experienced, and fills multiple rolls across midfield. Might help a particular RB and a specific CB settle more quickly as well. Synergy.

@tottenhamterry spam? Really?

Just an idea for the Mods but would it be possible to update the Goat Cryptics that aren't still sensitive with the solutions? I remember after one of the windows when we were chasing Santi Cazorla mods posted to solve some of them.

Gotta be Sancho. We're not gonna buy a 28yr old (pastore)...are we?
To be fair, when combined with the ITK from earlier in the window its the guess that makes the most sense.

Breezer said we had a bid rejected for an 'experienced South American.' We've recently had ITK from a number of sources that deals we thought dead may be back on (PSG's buying spree would indicate that they might now be more open to selling). And we now have a cryptic that plausibly links to Pastore.

It's probably miles off the mark, but the puzzle pieces do fit.
