Gomes was voted worst signing of last season for Barca. He was booed in Feb at home game. But he is seen as someone who is highly talented. Neville was his manager year before , has given vote of confidence on him.

It was said Barca didnt give him the best environment to integrate, often thrown in tough games.

We need to keep the expectation lower on him & hope Poch can ease him into the squad & PL.

Certainly a great talent, but lot of coaching required to get him into PL playing mode

Didn't modric get voted worse buy after only a couple of months, then bale got voted for his first season?

Not a great way to encourage a player struggling at a new club. Not that we don't do the same every year.

I'm still not wavering on hope for some 'pace' as it were. Trust in the collection of ITKs that made various suggestions and hints. Bundles of time left.

If we don't, however, I still very much like what we have bought ( if that includes Gomes )

fyp - Dier is a CM now

No he's not he's both - watch the Burnley game. But off topic.

People thinking Gomes is no upgrade - as a loan its a no loose situation, we have another option, injury cover and technical player used to playing a possession based style. If he doesn't turn out to be worth it we send him back next summer and maybe pick up Max Mayer or Barkley on a free. WIN. If he turns out to be what we need and an ideal longer term replacement for Dembele we have an agreed fee that we don't need to negotiate on. WIN.

Can't see there being any pacey winger now we would have had some leak by now.

As for Gomes would prefer Barkley but if poch wants him so be it

A deeper lying playmaker is something we really don't have at the club at the moment so if that's Gomes' role then I genuinely can't see why people are unhappy.

Fine people want an attacking player, but don't let that cloud your views over our other signings which have definitely strengthened the squad.

I think it's just that when people heard the exotic name they presumed he could be the mythical pacy forward so many are clamouring for...

Not if he's crap in 95% of the 60% of games he's played come May.
If he's crap 95% of the time we simply won't play him enough to trigger the clause. If he plays well enough to force his way into the first XI he'll be worth the fee.

Quite funny that we were screaming out for a fast little technical player last season and we would have lost our shit if Andre Gomes was the signing, he's had a bad season at Barca, he's not the first man to join an elite club and struggle and then go down a peg and shine. Aurier, Llorente and Gomes would be pretty dam good business and give significant depth compared to last season.

Gomes is a Cm, not an am in case anyone thinks are signing a number 10

likes to dribble and drive forward with the ball, so could be a dembele competition player but not fit to lace his boots

His style is quite different to Dembele IMO. Moussa is all about running with the ball and barging his way through until he gets to a point where he can play a simple pass i.e. lay it off to someone like Eriksen to play the final ball. From what I've seen as Gomes, he seems more like he sprays passes from deep, more like a Modric-style but with a bit more physicality defensively. Just to be clear, I'm not saying he's anywhere near the level of Modric, just that his style on the ball is somewhat more similar to him than Dembele IMO.

Because, despite how amazing Poch has been with our team and transforming players, people are obsessed with a 'big name'

Which is mental really, when you think that the best 3 players (IMO) of the last 5 years have all been relatively minor names when we signed them / played them for the first time - Bale, Kane and Dele.

Chuffing hell Kirsty Gallacher is outrageously tidy. Like a fine wine... (and likes a fine wine apparently.)

I know that isn't typical ITK, but i'm prepared to go out on a limb and state it as fact.
