Of course we haven't heard this from Poch or Levy. We heard it from the ITKs. If you don't believe that the ITKs are speaking from a position of knowledge as to what's happening at the Club then what's the point of listening to their pearls of information on this forum for starters? And I believe that we heard the same message from several ITKs.

The bottom line, however, with Tottenham Hotspur (at least in the last few years) is that we can expect a net spend of zero. Or very close to it. And Levy can say whatever he wants regarding the stadium build not impacting transfers - but the history of the Club's spending on transfers is there for all to see.

Maybe there'll be a surprise announcement as to that fast forward - I hope so - but my expectation is that we will end up with a net spend zero (or close to it) once this window closes. Whoever is brought in.

I often wonder that myself. I guess the short answer is its fun to speculate.

Best defense in the league, so we went and bought all the defenders and a 3rd keeper to boot.

Unbelievable really, was that really the priority for Poch?

I like the sanchez, aurier and llorente purchase but as others have said simply made us a very little bit stronger I'm not sure that will be enough this year.

Gomes would have made it a very good window with a decent worldie wing purchase making it unbelievable.

B-

The time we struggled the most last season was when toby was injured.

For anyone who thinks the window was a failure because we didn't sign Barkley, what exactly was Levy supposed to do?

Everton were demanding an extortionate fee for a player in the final year of his contract who won't even be available until the winter anyway. There's no way that Levy was going to shell out 30m plus wages on a player whose transfer value will be half that in January, especially when the player wouldn't have even played until January!

Unlike Chelsea we are not a club that can afford to flush 20m down the drain.
I agree I was never that excited by that signing anyway. Pace was always what we needed.

There was some good business and some things I just don't understand.

We replaced Walker with Aurier. Top business without a doubt. Will walk into the first XI
Gazzaniga in for Pau is a whatever move.

Then it is so baffling we spend millions into two new CBs. Not against it but it is the area with our least problems. But okay, that is an ambitious move.
We probably get Llorente as a target man upfront. Okay an upgrade on Vinnie but where does that leave him? He can't get on the pitch lately anyway. Must be a hard time for him. Can understand that move though.

Now what pisses me really off we have in midfield two signings from last year (Nkoudou and Sissoko) who didn't contribute anything of note and have not solved one creative problem.
We lost Lamela in addition and haven't got a clue when he is back and how he gets going.
We made a big move for Isco in the winter apparently to solve these problems. I think its obv there was no chance now for Isco but not one alternative solution lined up?
I am really worried for us when Eriksen is injured or out of form.

In the end we are slightly better than we were but look at the other teams. Manchester United and Man City had massive deals and Liverpool looks frightening with Salah in the mix.
Chelsea looks weak in depth but still got a man in every area. Arsenal had a rather bad window with not adressing problems in defense and CM.

With all the money that is available in english football I am in a way disappointed with our window. There was positivity through and through by all the ITKs....really appreciate their info....but I ended up disappointed.
I would have taken an injured Barkley now. Would have given a good feeling to get our main target and have him save. Honestly with knowing our dealings I doubt in a way we can seal this in January.

I hope the lesson Levy takes from this window into the summer is not to dick around until the last minute only to trot out the 'we tried but couldn't get it done' or wait for other teams to spend their money but that in the summer we actually go out and get our targets early before the next bout of hyper inflation takes hold.

We should be identifying some key players early and going out and getting them early like we did with Modric, that turned out pretty ok...

So what was the benefit of leaving our business late again? Which signing did we get for cheaper than he would have cost before the season start?

We have a settled squad that finished 2nd last year, and now we have added better quality of depth. Our new players will be afforded time to integrate with minimal impact.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are fucked, Chelsea are going to have issues between manager and board, Liverpool and City failed to sign centre-backs which were their weaknesses.

Chelseas (The Champions) business looks like this
  1. A back up goal keeper
  2. A better replacement for their back up defender
  3. A replacement for their starting mid (who they were happy to sell)
  4. A replacement for their starting striker (who they were happy to sell).

In turn we buy the following (as Runners Up);
  1. A back up keeper
  2. A better replacement for our backup defender
  3. A replacement for our starting RB (who we didn't want to sell)
  4. A back up striker

Chelsea are a suddenly a laughing stock, our window is a success. Football is weird. IMO the clubs chasing should be showing greater ambition.

I guess it is the way you look at it. Has Walker really been upgraded? Is Llorente really a "genuine backup" to Harry or maybe a slightly better option than an awful Jenson who we couldn't get rid of? As for CB, yes probably better cover but still cover, but I think we would all agree it was not an area of main concern for us. So I appreciate this is your view of the window. But not the majority on the site.

Not sure that’s an accurate claim. The majority of the people just lurk an refrain from posting. So just because those shouting loudest are unhappy it doesn’t make them the majority.

Bored about being told I should be happy about this window, the main point is that it's been strongly suggested Poch wanted to sign a few attacking options and we haven't even come close to delivering by the looks of things. This has been a good window if Poch is happy and a bad one if he feels let down by the club.
