This is a poor situation. All Janssen has to think is if Llorrente doesn't score in his first two or three games this could turn for him. Keep going Vincent!

The club is acting a bit shitty regardless. You can't force someone to work for a different, specific employer.

And in any case, this over-the-top reaction has little precedence anywhere.

I don't know what all the outrage is over. Given that we can only register17 non HGs, who would it have been better to leave out? Sissoko, Nkoudou, Janssen have all been here just as long and one had to miss out, none are exactly in favour but Pochettino had to decide who he would be least likely to use. The alternative, leave out one of the many well established players, or leave out a new signing.

It had to be one of those three, and it would have been unfair on whoever drew the short straw. I'm intrigued to see what happens if Lamela is fit by the end of January as I'd guess one of the other two will be replaced with him.

What, like a TUPE transfer? Yes, the employee has the right to resign if that's what you mean.

But sure, a player does seem to have a choice these days.
If he has ended up fourth choice for turning down this loan/move,
then from what he has shown us so far, I cant say I have a lot of sympathy.

It might still work out for him, but he'll need to make the most of the league cup and sub appearances.

Thought he'd still have a chance but now he's been left out the CL squad he's finished imo

Yeah tbf if Lamela is injured we do need Sissoko there for depth considering we haven't signed anyone. He can play CM and in the attacking three.

http://sportwitness.co.uk/angry-dut...atient-levy-players-union-west-brom-brighton/

‘Tottenham’s leadership attempted to push a transfer with all force’, according to the claims, and he was told to cooperate with a transfer or face no chance with the senior team at Spurs.

Patrick van Diemen and Louis Laros of the Dutch player’s union are said to have stood behind Janssen and backed his refusal of a ‘lightening quick’ transfer.

After refusing the West Brom and Brighton moves, De Telegraaf say the chance of Janssen ‘getting minutes in Tottenham’s shirt is almost nil’, and they add ‘Tottenham will make it so sour that he’ll have to choose a transfer to save his career during the winter break.’

Maybe it would have been better to deal with the situation at the start of the window? Just a thought.

That article is a crock of shit.

Poch has been on record even after signing Llorente saying Janssen will get his chances.

The step up has been too big for him. Yet another one Mitchell got badly wrong.

Not going to blame the player because he was playing lower league football in holland only 2 years ago. That was the clue really despite him being holland's first choice striker.

One could easily, easily have dropped either N'Koudou or Sissoko. Janssen has played 20 times more PL minutes than N'Koudou, and it's bullshit that a third striker would be less needed. It is nothing short of a travesty leaving Janssen out of the CL squad, and it most certainly isn't a decision based on likelihood of winning CL games.

EDIT. Well, i guess there's also the possibility that Foyth is a player of such amazing quality that Pochetino couldn't bring himself to leave him out of the squad.
Absolute nonsense.

The reason he's left out is simple. We regularly play 3 CB's and almost always 1 striker in our setup. Given that, I'd much rather our 5th choice CB than our 4th choice centre forward registered in the squad.

True, but I can't imagine he would say that Janssen would have his chances and then not give it regardless what he says to the press

He will have his chances. In an FA or LC up game where we play league 1 or 2 opposition.

Has poch ever shit on a player in front of the media. He doesnt do that but behind closed doors we don't know. I just think his complete lack of game time in august shows us he doesn't trust him.

I don't disagree, but i'm inclined to think that he may want the option of playing two up top

One may try to rationalise and make logic out of excluding Janssen for sporting reasons, truth it it isn't logical. There is no logic in including both Sissoko and N'Koudou but not finding space for Janssen.

For me the argument is between those three anyway. Seems there's no strong reason to have Gazzaniga in there, and then all this would have been avoided.

Only have to name two 'keepers, if one is injured for longer than 30 days you can call another one in.
