If Dembele and Eriksen are healthy:
Toby-Sanchez-Jan
Trippier-Davies
Dier-Dembele
Eriksen-Dele
Kane

If Dembele is not suspect Winks or Sissoko will slot in. If Eriksen is not, Sissoko or Son will slot in. With how defensive Huddersfeild are I would not be opposed to a 4-1-4-1 with Eriksen, Son, Dele, and Sissoko behind Kane.

Bang on. They'll park the bus. We don't need 3cbs, 2 fbs and 2 dms against Huddersfield. Only leaves 3 attacking players to score against 11 defending. Play Son, Alli, Kane, Erikson and Sissoko. If 4 defenders and a dm cant deal with Huddersfield then we are in trouble.
Edit. To be honest we should have too much for them whatever happens.

After all this time with success in other formations, some fans are still actively wanting 4231

CB1, CB2, CB3
Trippier, Winks, Davies
Eriksen, Llorente, Dele

If Eriksen and Dembele are fit, they slot in. If not, Son for Eriksen and ideally Winks for Dembele. But since this is Poch, he'll shoe horn Sissoko in for Dembele(and probably even do so if Dembele is fit as he's done multiple times thus far)

With the exception to Dortmund, every team we have played this season has happily sat back and looked to frustrate and do us on the break.

It is quite apparent that as a team, we do not move the ball quick enough, so teams seem happy to ride defensive luck and sit deep. Huddersfield won't be any different, so I would expect to see 11 men behind the ball.

Both Burnley and Swansea succeeded in this, so we now need to set a precedent in this game and move the ball more quickly. I would be tempted to play four behind Kane with Dier sitting, which admittedly may leave us slightly exposed, but also may help us get more attacking players into their area faster.

If this does leave us exposed then Sissoko could drop back to the centre., or we could get Winks on next to Dier.

-----------------------Lorris------------------------
Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies
------------------------Dier--------------------------
Eriksen------Alli-----Sissoko-----Son
-----------------------Kane-------------------------

Subs: Vorm, Sanchez, Walker-Peters, Winks, GKN, Llorente

Edit: Dembele is not included as I do not envisage him being fully fit by Saturday. Could be wrong though!

I just think that against a side who will look to hit us on the counter, we're better off with a flatter defence which leaves fewer gaps. Likewise, against a side who will sit deep, more options around the box makes sense.

I don't think that formation helps us move the ball any more quickly. The ball will only be moved more quickly if we play the personnel who can do so, and play a system that allows them to do that.

So I'd play Winks because his passing is the best in our midfield outside of Eriksen, and I'd play wing backs with KWP offering pace on one side.

Will never happen but:

Lloris

Alderweireld Sanchez Vertonghen

KWP ------ Dier ------ Winks ------ Davies

Eriksen ------ Alli

Kane

But 4231 doesn't lead to more effectiveness around the box. We've seen that other formations are more effective, because they create more space for (fewer/different) attackers. Overloading with people can actually be counter productive when what you are wanting is increased space through a compact defence. The way to go vs. compact defences is to have fewer of your own players (read fewer AMs) compete for the same space, and have your own attacking force stretched out in a way that only wingbacks can provide. I predicted earlier, a couple of seasons back or so, that 4231 would soon become an outdated and obsolete formation. Out of top ten in PL this season, only 3 teams are using it predominantly, ManU, Huddersfield and Newcastle.

From the games I have seen them, Huddersfield play nice compact & pressing football.
They haven't won for 4 PL games, but key thing is, they have conceded just 3 goals all season, which is 2 less than us.

So, we really need to show some creativity on Saturday. Eriksen hopefully is available.

My XI

Lloris
Toby,Sanchez,Jan
Trippier,Dier, Winks, Davies
Eriksen, Kane, Dele

I see you have bought into the media hype. Our income does not allow us to pay exorbitant wages. We are paying within our means. You should be arguing that other clubs are over paying their players. Anyway a debate for another thread

This; and when Sheringham and Jamie Redknapp are saying we should be matching City and chavs wage wise, it needs someone to say Spurs are run properly not funded by oil billionaires as a hobby!!
