What does "long term target" even mean though, Trix? That we never had any intention of buying Barclay in January? That Levy was always going to wait to wait it out until the summer when he was available on a free, and just HOPE he doesn't go elsewhere? Surely the more "long-term" you make your targets, the more likely you are to miss out, by affording other clubs the opportunity to guzump you? That doesn't sound like the most robust of strategies, especially for a target that was roundly touted as "the one our manager really wants".Nothing has changed afaik from what I posted at the beginning of the month. We have our targets but they are long term targets, if they come this month then that is a bonus, because price and availability is always different in January than it is in the Summer. It certainly won't be the case that just because Barkley looks less likely and he was possible in this window, that we will try and get someone else now instead.
