If we lose Toby I really hope we move for Maguire at Leicester. Such a great and underrated player. Even carry quite the offensive threat for a CB.

Think he's rubbish personally. Catches the eye as he brings the ball out of defence but I think he's a poor defender.

I really think thats harsh on him. His defensive game is very solid imo, and his attitude and determination is top class. Would fit right in with Poch and our English lads

It's going to be interesting to see if Levy can sort out a new deal that both Toby and Levy are happy with. It's doesn't happen much where levy lets a contract run this long without a renewal or sell. My opinion is levy will sell, he will pay younger players like dele, Kane, dier, eriksen the going rate as there young and improves there worth with sell on value. This is the first time I can remember in levy era where a player is hitting his late 20's and at his peak wants a big big renewal and at the end of new contract would be worth 10m ish at 33,34. Loved to be proved wrong, but levy will have his businessman head on not a fan

I believe Woodgate and Edgar Davids were given a higher wage than usual even though they were short-term signings.

I believe we'll offer, probably already have offered, a high salary to Alderweireld. But I don't think the only issue is wages.

You could well be right, no way will levy insert a release clause. The longer it drags on the more I fear he will end up at city

how could Citihad possibly afford to fork out what Toby is worth after they just forked out about 400 million on their current team ?

Because they are funded by the dictatorial absolute monarchy of a sovereign state?

They literally have unlimited money.

They are like someone who has the cheat codes on football manager.

Salah destroyed him. He's too slow off the mark.

What? He was the reason Leicester only conceded 2 today. He even made up several yards to tackle Salah who otherwise would have been clear on goal. Did you even see todays game?

Anyone know what happens to the money he is missing out on by not re signing with us, i.e. the pay rise he would be in for? Do we think the new club unofficially make this up to him in sign on bonus etc? Just wondering as in footballing terms him earning only 50k ish per week (if correct) sounds far too low.
Whatever is going on I just hope he is switched on and committed when he returns as regardless of what happens going forward we have so much to play for this year & I would dearly love to see this team win a cup. I'm sure he will be, just a reminder that there is always so much going on behinds the scenes that we are not privy to.

He feels to me like a Belgian Berbatov: wonderful, incredible player who would approach God-like status if he stayed with us but we all (or at least the vast majority of us) just have that sinking feeling that he will 100% leave us.

Or, to use another metaphor: he feels like a girl you're with that's incredibly hot but deep down inside you just know that she will leave you someday, so you just have to enjoy her while you can.*

(*Not that that's ever happened to me of course; every super hot girl I've ever dated is still with me to this day.)

But they still have to get around ffp both domestic and European versions.

I bet Dier is a better centre back or at least as good as Toby was at the same age. Dier has had a few stinkers recently but all young centre backs make mistakes. Really rate Toby and would hate to see him join a competitor, but with Poch's guidance there is every possibility Dier could be a better centre back than Toby in a few years time.

Dier is a good enough centre back. The problem is he has been playing in 2 positions over the course of the last 3 seasons whereas our other defenders play every game in the one position.
So whilst i would be disappointed in Toby leaving we will replace him no doubt.

Besides the righting was on the wall Ages ago.... A massive lol to the pacifiers who kept giving the garbage lines....
Levy got this.
Why the stress..he has 3yrs left on his deal.

Just hate the fact we keep strengthening our rivals. It still hurts seeing Walker playing for those oil sheiks
