Get how things work @Trix but isn't there a concern with pushing Citeh out of sight?
Walker actually was understandable but there aren't too many Toby type players in Europe now.

As I was reminded yesterday we are closer tp Bournemouth than we are City points wise. I'd say they were already out of sight tbh.

Is it only about the wage Toby wants?

We were willing to let Sissoko go in the summer but there were no offers.

I don't understand why so many people keep making out like it's just a matter of paying him what he wants.

First, he's a professional sportsman: he wants to win things. He stands a much better chance of doing so at City (or the other mega clubs). It's just a fact.

Second, he is not a Spurs fan like everyone on here (well, almost everyone, you know who I mean). I'm sure he likes the club but he, just like the overwhelming majority of players, will move jobs just like, again, anyone on here would.

mate but let's be honest here, if we were at the lane we'd be a lot higher up the table and they have been good but also had a few bits of luck. They'd win it this year regardless but if we had Toby, at the new Lane next year you never know...seems a bit different to walker

This season maybe. But that would be a short-term and defeatist attitude if we allowed it to affect our transfer policy by believing that "they can't be caught, so whats' the harm in selling our best players to them"...We should never go down that road.

I remember when we signed Toby and half of you thought he wasn't good enough. Now reading this thread you'd think he was Lionel Messi. He's a brilliant centre back, but there are plenty of others, including 2 maybe 3 that are already at the club. If he goes it's because he wants to leave and we'll get big money for him. There is only one player in our team that is irreplaceable and I think we all know who that is.....

If we let Toby go, especially to City, then we can wave goodbye to any possibility of winning the league within the next few years. He is what City need, he'd straighten out any defensive worries, while making us much weaker. Dier slipping in to the back 3 to compensate for the loss of Toby, is a thought that fills me with fear. The lad isn't switched on enough (head or heart, you decide?) to do what Toby does there.

It would be a big mistake to lose him. Kane, Toby, Dele, and Son are our most valuable assets.

He still has what, 2 years left with us? We can see from the RB transfer, that just cos they have a year left, Chelsea were still gonna be paying £30mill ish? If City wanted him still in a year, year and a half, they would still pay a high rate cos they can.

I thought he has 18 months until he can leave for £25m.

I bet Dier is a better centre back or at least as good as Toby was at the same age. Dier has had a few stinkers recently but all young centre backs make mistakes. Really rate Toby and would hate to see him join a competitor, but with Poch's guidance there is every possibility Dier could be a better centre back than Toby in a few years time.

For me theres absolutely no surprise here. Theres clearly a reason why he hasnt signed a new deal after everyone else has.

Whether we like it or not, there are very few players around who wouldn't want to sign for Manchester City. This is the reality for pretty much every team bar maybe Barcelona/Real Madrid/Bayern/PSG/United. Massive wages, best manager in the game, unbelievable football, almost guaranteed trophies. Look at Arsenal and Sanchez, they pay massive wages and it doesnt look like thats enough to keep him. Just the way it is.

Its something Man U stopped doing as well much to their detriment.
Chelsea did it big time when the money first arrived. Just bought every half decent player going and sat them on the bench.

Does Walker do anything at Manc except watch?

At spurs he was big part of our defence and in terms of breaks, a big part of our attack.
He isn't even a small cog in the city team.

I don't think Walker has the patience to stay at city - he'll want to charge up and down somewhere else before he goes mad with boredom.

So I don't think he is a good example of why others will want to follow his lead.
