sure diouf spat at a celtic fan.
The first time he did it he used the excuse that a fan had touched the top of his head and where he was from that was very disrespectful. But then he kept spitting at people because he's a prick.

Sky sacked marsh and gray for less
Marsh, I agree, for a very poor attempt at a tsunami joke but Gray was sacked for a history of sexist, laddish and bullying behaviour.

Of the three offences Gray's is the worst. The other two appear to be one offs but Gray was an arrogant prick with a consistently sexist attitude.

People at Sky had been looking for a way to get Gray and Keys out for a while. A mate of mine has worked at Sky's HQ for years and told me at the time that Keys and Gray had alienated pretty much everyone through their behaviour and it was a matter of when, not if, those two got caught out and moved on. Pretty sure if Keys hadn't resigned he too would have been given the shove soon after. Difference with Carragher is that he is one of Sky's prime assets. They will probably look to keep him off screen for a bit without making a decision to see if this dies down a bit (unless their other top pundits say they think he should go).

Joey Barton is right to say what he said but also, Joey Barton has done several other horrific things in his career whereas Carragher has had a pretty good incident-free career, this being his first major fuck up that I can think of. If Barton spat yesterday then he’d be sacked (I know it’s talksport but I have no doubt he’d be sacked - they’ve sacked other presenters for less). It was a horrific thing to do but should he lose his job over it? I dunno, maybe they’ll give him a few weeks break.

If he keeps his job, I look forward to he and Neville working together again and Neville, whilst doing some analysis, gets a chance to say that player A was in spitting distance of player B.

Context is relevant really. For example if Kane spat at a fan would we be calling for him to be sacked? Of course we wouldn't. I think there's a temptation in these situations to jump on our high horses as if none of us have ever made a mistake in our lives. Sky as his employers will take the decision of whether or not his reputation is tarnished to the extent that his position at the company is untenable. Personally, provided he shows genuine contrition, I would like to see him keep his job - I enjoy his punditry and I think he deserves another chance.

The difference is pundits are 10 a penny these days, I could close my eyes and spit out of the window and probably hit one :sneaky:
Players, especially of Kane's calibre, are not.

If Kane spat at a fan I'd be pretty stunned. It's not even a remotely normal reaction. You didn't see Gold and Sullivan start spitting out the directors box, hey? Spitting is always filth.

Exactly. Which kind of shows up the moral outrage for what it is.

Always the victims. Blameless.

Albeit with a biter, fighter, strangler, spitter, convicted woman beater, jailed drunk driver on the past and present payroll to name just a few.

If you’ve ever been faced with a scouser pronouncing ‘Carragher’ you’ve probably been covered in spit too.

I think he should have his eyes held open Clockwork Orange style and forced to watch all his own goals on a loop.
